just weird.

Mauser 98K 08-30-2007 06:32 PM

notthat i can think of, ill try and reinstall it later and turn on the pc monoter thingy and see what is going on with memory and such.

Chrispy 08-30-2007 10:57 PM

It may not be the game?

Anything you did to the computer related to hardware? And also, what exactly happened? SS? Thanks man.

Chris :)

if all in all go to the ArmA website and check out the FAQ's

:D :D :D

Mauser 98K 08-31-2007 02:23 PM

hmmm, memory and stuff looks ok. gona go look at the FAQ.

Hellfighter 08-31-2007 06:30 PM

Start> Run> chkdsk /f

if there anything bad with the filing system it will fix it up

Mauser 98K 09-01-2007 12:25 PM

ok, didnt find anything in the FAQ about it, and chrispy, all it did was when ya click on the icon on ya desktop nothing happens, it will sho arma running in the taskmanager and ya cant open anything else without restarting the PC, it just weird, i hope my winsows isnt busted, if i remember corectly i installed the updated catalist driver for my vidcard, i think that is when it started , but i uninstalled it and put the origional back in and it still did the same thing so im not shure if the updated driver over wrote something or what.

Chrispy 09-01-2007 03:39 PM

If you want, try completely uninstalling your graphics card drivers and then reinstalling (either original or the updated ones is your choice - expiriment and try both if you wish).

Usually there may have would been some kind of error if it was your graphics card but we'll narrow down the problems mate.

like to add to chrispy post

*unstill it ADM/Ati Catalyst software/driver using Add & remove "Ati- Software Uninstall unitility" remove it totally or "Ati Catalyst Control Center" you can uninstall, repair, Modify it three option to use.

"if you try to repair option no need to do the following below"

*delete Catalyst folder location "C:\ATI"

*restart system.

*windows will search for the display Ati drive exit out of it, don't let it install the drivers.

catalist driver for my vidcard are a bet picky when updating them or installing it in.

Ati-tech told me some time ago to unstall it before updating it and remove (delete) the folder before you update the video card

*go to the folder were you downloaded the update and install in fresh as new.

remember to download the full version update thats has all three packages (or more) update and not the display drivers only. this way you have all the updates for it.

display update is smaller to download then full update is a lot much larger to download.

hmm, ok uninstalled the entire ati driver system, reinstalled the default drivers , did the chkdisk thingy , uninstalled and reinstalled game afet reinstalling everything, still doing it, tried to do a system recovery but for some reason it wont do it, i tried 8 diffrent restore points but it says cannot restore to this date.

im wondering, if a dvd drive can read the disk but not work good enough for it to work, itll try to work with the no cd thing but being it is the one for the arma european version i get graphics errors, soo it just getting irratating, i tried to find a no cd patch for the english versions but cant find one, tried using vitrtual drive and the dagblang securom crap kicks in, got the patch for the securom so it would work with deamon tools, and then it says use origional disk not a copy, ill quote something from another forum, "ARMA should be labled as the new pain in the ass for gamers" that seams about rite at the moment.

Chrispy 09-02-2007 02:43 PM

If you want I can go find a CD patch for you. (Check your PM sometime...)

Just remember - ArmA has a system integrated into the game called FADE - that means if you're running a CD patch, the game will basically degrade the game till it's no longer enjoyable or playable. Some patches manage to sneak past FADE...

BTW, does the DVD drive actually sound like it's running when the CD is in the drive?
