Steam

Okay, I was on MSN talking to Lucky about whether you had to pay using Steam. Now I wasn't sure whether it only applied if you buy games, but just to be sure, does registering a Steam account and playing online cost anything?

I just want to make sure, that's all.

Thanks. :)

Chris :)

Nope, just buying games

Well, no-one'e else replied, and I've only got what you said. I'll go try register a Steam account now and see what happens.

Chris :)

it's free

you dl steam and create an account, thats it. You can pay and DL games through steam or buy them in store, enter the cd key and install them through steam. I like the program.

Well, in order to play online through Steam I have to put in what is to be, my CS1.6 CD-Key...

The CS1.6 I got, was a standalone version. It didn't come with a CD-Key, and didn't need one. And since it was standalone, the original HL1 didn't work, although CS1.6 did rely on its core files.

So that sucks doesn't it? Back to bots... :*(

Well, the only game I mainly play online on is DFBHD, and the servers are still down...

you could have to keep in mind this is not for dail up users, do to they may get disconnected and have to reconnect to download if there any break the file may go bad

Chrispy 04-11-2007 12:38 AM

Chief, do the research.

CS1.6 is a mod for HL1, which was BACK in the day, probably before they even had ''broadband''.

* Edit:
Unless you mean the install for the mod, which is 300mb.

I think you can download CS 1.5 for free now, but it isn't that popular, hehe.
that sucks man, have you tried seraching in a store?, ebay?, it was released almost 10 years ago, so you can probably get it relatively cheap now, gl.

chrispy.. chief is right, most steam content, even if its from 5-10 years ago.. isnt suitable for dial up users i thought CS 1.6 was made in the era that CD keys were used?

CS might have been made in early broadband days but the game size on CD still isnt suitable for a download on dial up..

h8 2 tell u this.. but even if u do get steam running and the game installed.. u will b kicked from 99% of servers for a high ping
