its count do you need a IDE type or a SATA type DVD-Writer.

i been using Lite-on it been doing good, but its a IDE type i going to get a SATA type, Mob use a SATA and i think it having trouble see it for what it is.

right now i have it on the same cable as the HHD is on as a slave (DVD-RW).

SATA has a singler red cable for it smaller then the Flate IDE Cable.

NEC AD7170A
Pioneer DVR-111
Sony AW-G170AB2

BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY THERE IS NO REAL DIFFERENCE AND THEY ARE ALL VERY CHEAP

I bought about 12 LG DVD+/-RW drives for $30ea for some computers, they work awesome and are very quiet & smooth. I mostly use LG at home. I have never had a coaster with my LG drives. That probably has to do with good media also though.

Also have a ton of these NEC's, they all work as expected..

My last samsung drive was crap and very slow, don't remember the model though.
