good place to get laptops (UK)?

hi guys well im going to be starting my a-levels this September and would like to get a laptop to do my work on (i want to be able to do my work where ever i go, cos the school pc's are rubbish most of em are still pentium 3 ffs) anyway i need it to be atleast a p4 2.0ghz, atleast 1gb ram and 256mb gfx (and preferably media centre for os)

Steve 04-27-2006 10:46 AM

256mb gfx might cost ya! :0

i'd probably go for a dell (decent warranty / repair / spares) or a Sony - ncie but usually costly.

please stay away from Acer even if it does have a cheap price.

there is a decent Dell on 'clockers this week with over £100 knocked off it: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...aLT_2d010_2dDE but it is XP home.

huge-ass-wide-screen :D

prety much meets your specs to.... but what about budget?

//edit - i'm nit sure that laptops come with Media Centre? i haven't seen one, but i havent looked so hard. i know there is only a limited ammount of equipment that MC supports, so i dont know if laptops are fully compaitble. sry i dont really know much more info on it.

Wouldn't assembly for Acer equipment be done in different places for UK and US?

Steve 04-28-2006 04:40 PM

most definately
