I don't want to be a sourpuss but I wonder how much this little lot is going to cost and who exactly is going to pay for it?
As we are having the G8 summit here at the moment discussing ways to end world poverty, would it not be better to spend the billions that the "Olympics" will cost on helping to abolish poverty? Some "experts" say that London will benefit financially from this venture but I suspect as always it will cost more to stage than London will get back from it. Just a thought or two of mine.... Its hard to make money of the olympic games, usually the games that make the profits are the ones that market themselves well and have a huge tourist influx in the years post the olympics. I believe sydney has profited many times over due to hosting the games in 2000.
IT also depends on the way you look at it, the stadiums and facilities that will be built for the olympics wont be demolished afterwards, so any money you make from sponorship, events and the like afterwards youcould count towards the profit the olympics brought, but then you have to count the maintinance aswell.... Good luck to London, if you ever needed something to unify as a nation behind this is it. |
Well Im glad we won it, but even if we had'nt I would not give 2 hoots....lol
I have never watched the Olympics.... And it all depends if Im still around in 7 Years if I get to watch anyway.... |

Having found this article on the BBC's website this morning in my daily email from the beeb, I'm even more uncertain as what if any benefits we will get from hosting these "games"! I also agree with Sal in his statement as I would not have cared had we not got the "olympics"! Regards  |
will i wish everything for London U.K good luck with Olympic games in 2012 lol
besides the bill for it 4-8 billion pounds going to spend on this from your tax payers founds. i think it great you all footing the bill to make it so. I'm am happier that the French did not get it. you don't flame others who are trying to show good sportmen-ship, UK food taste good anyways.:gj: |
