Pilots

Anyone here a pilot? I just went up for my first time in a private four seater cessna SkyHawk. It was very nice. :) Kinda scary at first because of the turbulance but...the person I was with is an awesome pilot.

Did you do any 8s? and Rolls? LMFAO

Dr. Bullet 06-03-2005 02:29 PM

Alright Ath! I'll meet you at the airport at 9 so you can fly me to Vegas

DevilDog#1 06-03-2005 02:30 PM

I doubt he can find his way back to landing strip right now. Give him 6-8 months :p

Dr. Bullet 06-03-2005 02:34 PM

Nah, he'll do fine. Have you seen you know what? He's a wiz! Flying a plane will be a breeze for him ;)

DevilDog#1 06-03-2005 02:35 PM

Yeah but he has no NHQ to ask questions!! LMFAO

Dr. Bullet 06-03-2005 02:39 PM

LMFAO, true :D

But we wouldn't be much help anyway :D

DevilDog#1 06-03-2005 02:59 PM

Yep. Google doesn't have good simulators on it.!!

VooDoo- 06-03-2005 04:11 PM

i did that one thing where you pay 50 bucks .. it was pretty cool ... you get to sit in the pilots seat of one of those newer cesnas and take off and fly (taking off was awsome, just kinda ease it to full throatle .. it became so much easier to steer, then at like 50 knots or whatever it was you start to pull up).. but he didn't let me land lol ...and the time you were up there goes on your flight log...

but i think if i stoped acting like i knew everything he would of kept me up there longer... :S

i'v kinda changed my idea on being a commercial pilot, but im still gona get my private licence for flying small aircrafts like that ...

but like i said befor ath, everyone i spoke too said they got a degree to be a pilot but nowadays they'd rather you fresh out of the airforce...

atholon 06-03-2005 05:20 PM

Back in the day that is what the perferred and that is what I heard from a lot of pilots. It is harder comming from private training but I am at least going to get my private license before I go AF or not.

We landed at 65 knots and cruised at around 115 I think. It was fun :D

It was a lot like some of the flight sims I have flown. Although you don't get turbulence and stuff.

VooDoo- 06-03-2005 05:35 PM

heh ... i fly those model airplanes .. so i pretty much knew what i was doing when i was up ...

BADDOG 06-04-2005 03:35 AM

I got to fly a glider when I was in the ATC way back when and it was a truly awesome experience:)!!!!

Regards

atholon 06-04-2005 08:32 AM

:) They have something here call Civilian Air Patrol or something like that they let you fly gliders.

Personally I'd rather fly motorized. :) I must say that I loved flying and I think I have been bitten by the bug!

BTW he said that the airplane we were in could go upside down but we didn't do it.

Stu 06-04-2005 04:52 PM

My dads got his private flying license, hires the same Piper Arrow 3 everytime.

atholon 06-05-2005 03:30 PM

That's cool :D

I wish I had my license... I have to wait for two years.

VooDoo- 06-05-2005 05:39 PM

you can get your license at 17 i think, but you can also start alot earlyier .... like around 15 ... to get your hours and all that out of the way .. so when you turn 17 you take the classes on airodynamics and take the test and your done ..

some of the math in that stuff can get tricky though ;) i suggest getting a book on that stuff and just read it ...

Roshi 06-05-2005 06:21 PM

naw i dont want to be a pilot i had a cescen(sp) crash about 150 yards from my front door so that kinda changed my mind and yes both the pilot and flight student died it was a very bad day

ziprock 06-05-2005 06:54 PM

Im not a pilot but im an aviation enthusiast or so im told.

Roshi, i can se your point i wouldnt really have much confidence in flying if i had that happen to me.

what about air cadets? somone told me you could get your license alot easier if you joined that for a few years, anyone know about that?

atholon 06-05-2005 09:19 PM

I don't know much about air cadets. I think the best thing to do is join an aviation club. Usually the club with have airplanes that you can rent for a reduced price. One of my friends got a lot of flight hours through the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association).

I can't get training because I am going to be leaving for two years in August or September. When I get back I am going to go through training.

Roshi I can understand you, honestly I wouldn't let cessna crashes bother me. The #1 reason they crash is because the pilot is trying to do something he doesn't know how to do or do something the aircraft is not capable of. I am not saying that is the case with you but most of the time it is.

Cessnas can stay in the air at 45-65 miles per hour so that is comforting :)

VooDoo- 06-05-2005 11:01 PM

alot of the times the pilots actully fudge up on take off. .. they overdo it .. stall .. flip shits..crash ..

but in training they put the plane in a controled stall and practice getting out of it ...

but one time i guess the plane's engine crapped out in the air and the dude actully landed in the road.... i heard it was gona be ok if the old women didn't pull out in front of him :\

and there was another one where a dude landed on the Tampa causeway ....
