I don't think we need to worry about this idea to be honest as it will cost so much to administer that the government won't want to do it and the public in the U.K. will not accept it.

Anyone who can sum it up, what its about? Never read the whole story just the £300 part and then i fainted *faints again*

lol, basically its an idea 2 replace passports i think, its just like a credit card except it holds a hell lot of person details and is read by a machine that is well "only belonging 2 the right ppl".. so apparently is safe, but just give it a month if it started, they will b stolen ect, and abused just like credit cards, also it takes a portrait of u, and ur eye colour and lists other physical features that are unique 2 u

i think.. lol

It's because the government wants all the fancy technology on the ID cartds that they will be so expensive. I really can't see this idea geting off the ground.

there must be some company out there that has costed these up with a view to making a killing!!.
a large proportion of the population paying for the "Priveledge" of having one AND then them becoming compulsory within a few years !!!!
With THAT amount of sales the costs have GOT to be MUCH MUCH lower!

hmmmmm, wonder if any of the politicians have got shares or vested interests in the company that will win the job of producing these things!!??!??
