ADWARE Description:
Name:
"TIBS Dialer"

Author: (unknown)

Category: Trojan

Threat Assessment: High

Description:

TIBS Dialer is a dialer program that may hijack your modem and dial toll numbers in order to access paid pornographic Web sites.

Characteristics:
TIBS Dialer may disconnect your computer from your local Internet provider and reconnect you to the Internet using an expensive toll or international phone number. It does not spy on its intended victims, but it may accrue significant long distance phone charges. It may run in the background, hiding its presence.

Method of Infection:

TIBS Dialer is generally installed via ActiveX drive-by download. A "drive-by download" program automatically downloads itself on your computer without your knowledge or consent. Drive-by downloads can be initiated by clicking on an advertisement or visiting a Web site.

Additional Comments:

The Federal Trade Commission recommends that you dispute the charges with your telephone company and report the incident.
if you phone bill has a lot of charges to it, this bugger may have done it to you.

Spysweeper webroot.com found it for me and remove it.

Spysweeper rocks...I stopped using it when I cancelled MSN.

Hellfighter 05-15-2005 10:58 PM

you should keep using or was it part of a package deal with MSN?

atholon 05-16-2005 07:36 AM

It came with MSN and we killed their service because MSN sucks and next to AOL they are the worst ISP ever.

Hellfighter 05-16-2005 10:13 AM

will i use My yellowstone.com

it not a high speed service but they are ok in my book.

think these ISP some really like to stick software into your system when it not even needed extra crap.

i had AOL it totally suck they made my system crash like crazy, them tech seem more of a goofballs then anything other then that butch of telemarkets work as tech when they are not even that at all. they seat behind a desk you tell them whats going on they type in it to computers it come up with a asker they give you a general asker for all.

atholon 05-16-2005 11:34 AM

Hahaha I had a guy that I was training who used to work at MSN bwahahaha.

got some news' i have that too and spysweeper all working together.

funny thing about anti-virus software some type of trojan horse that has to do with adware they don't do anything about them. like that trojan auto-dialer i had. spysweeper got it.
