headset recommendation

want to talk to buddy of mine with headset or mic on DFX. Need recommendation on headset. Also, how is the online voice function done? Is it different for different games?

Thanks.

Logitech, may about 50 bucks for the headset but its the quality that counts, it will last for a long time if you give it care, i got this one http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=6337

Logitec makes really good ones.

Make sure you don't step on yours like I did.

Can't beat that price! I went to Best Buy and got a Logitech set. Paid 25$. They had a headset for 99$ (that headset must talk for you at that price). I was tempted to get a mic on a stand, have anyone of you tried that? If it works pretty good it seems more convenient than the headphones...

heh ... my getup is weird .. i got the mic and my headphones... (cause the mic only has 1 speaker) so i kinda wedge the mic into place into my headphones....works fine for me lol

the one i had before this one broke when the cat decided to chew on the wire, this cat is more of a dog than a cat, it retrieves and chews almost everything.

Sennheiser makes probably the top of the line. There really popular in the cs community. Logitech makes a good one also.

I have always used an 18" boom-mic mounted from the side of my monitor.
You may use a mic with VOX and not get feedback (echo) as long as you can position it within a couple inches of your mouth so that the triggering threshhold can be set high.
That will keep your speakers from triggering the mic.
I use this setup with a 400 watt theatre surround system and never have problems, even though I crank it up for action games.
I can't stand being tethered with a headset.

I can't keep a set of hphones. I'm like a bull in a China shop with some stuff. The set I have now cuts in and out. I've had some of the best sets to being a musician/singer/songwriter and have recorded at home and such.

Yeah, headset wires tend to be WAY too delicate for extended gaming use.
I've been using my mic for about 10 years now... everyone says I sound great on voice and it cost me all of $3.
LOL!

The last headset I had ended up wireless...after I got up to answer the phone...I have a 5.1 surround..I cant stand to have my ears covered...it's hard to lay them back when i get angry too...
