about time they did that.
i wonder if adsl conns. will get upgraded some time :(

Sal UK 11-29-2004 01:01 PM

Well last time this happened we were ripped off really.

128k became 300k and stayed 17.99
600k became 750k and stayed 24.99
1mb cable was 34.99 it went to 1.5mg shortly after they raised the price to 37.99, But the others stayed the same price.

Also with this new speed upgrade Existing customers will have to pay a one off payment 25.00 to goto the higher speed, While new customers dont have to pay, Surely they must realize they will also loose a few customers doing this.

Oh well just see what Happens I guess in 05.

I dont think they will lose many customers.
If you can get NTL cable you cant get any other cable and ADSL isnt anything like this speed yet.

woah! Fast gits, good luck ntl users with the uk lines manging to keep up the speed lol :gj:

Oh I dont know as really I am being forced to go higher when you think about it, I pay 37.99 now for my 1.5meg so unless I pay the 25.00 I will still pay 37.99 for 1.5meg when 2meg will be paying 24.99.

If you see where im going.lol

Even though im happy with my 1.5meg exept the bad upload speed of 256k, I dont think im going to stay with them for the speed when ill be paying more than someone on what was a lower speed.

So I will not stick with NTL, I think they have to re-think the way they are going to do it, Its not like I can Downgrade to the 2meg as it would really be an upgrade, Boy thats confusing...

Blueyonder are upgrading,

768K will become 1Mb
1.5Mb will become 2Mb
2Mb will become 4Mb

also increasing upload speed only on 4Mb connection, upload will be 312K

Prices are staying the same

all upgrades should be complete by end of Jan 2005

zaitsev 12-02-2004 05:10 PM

forgot to say, NTL will be capping its users bandwidth when they upgade your line, think its 20Gb max download per month. Blueyounder will still be unlimited downloads.

Well it is capped at the moment you are allowed 1gb per 24hours, Though I dont think its properly implemented, I have downloaded more than that 1gb in demos, All that seems to happen is I get passed to a different IP Address maybe a poorer IP Block I dont know, But I have never been charged any extra for it.

But the 20gb per month is for the lowest speed I think I saw somewhere it is 40 or 50gb for the 3meg, I cant seem to find the link again now, I only stumbled accross the upgrades by accident.
