I agree with Steve, AMD is best for gaming and for office applications you should have Intel.

I recently updated this old crappy computer with a new mobo and a AMD XP 2800+ , but my new beast will rock.

Dual vidcard Dual CPU and 2 gigs of DDR.
Costs some money but you get some, all hardware is top of the bill, this time no store goods for me. Altho they are great also.

if ur a gamer, get an amd. I want one really bad. My next computer i am going to spend a pretty penny on it.

Systemkaos 11-28-2004 03:25 PM

amd is made for gaming, and AMD say this, intel is for office and home use, and they say this....but they also say its for gaming...noobs (refering to intel)

zaitsev 11-28-2004 06:17 PM

amd64 for gaming
dual xeon for server

ST0RM 11-29-2004 04:10 PM

i have an athlon 64bit 3500 and it runs games and aps perfectly. I found it better than me P4 2.4

G.I.JOE*MFA* 11-29-2004 07:17 PM

my P4 3.2 is running great for games...and of course it runs better than my 1.1 gig amd...its a bigger processor...lol

BeBop 12-05-2004 06:11 PM

amd is great for games and i also think they stay a bit cooler while operating, where as the pentiums tend to heat up a bit.... I have a amd xp 2100 and it outdoes my sis's dell which is a 2.2 ghz p4... if your gonna get a gaming pc, i would suggest building it yourself, if your goign to get a server, you can order most of it put together then add what you want (more ram, vid card) etc

I agree.
The new Intel's that they have the Xeon. I think it is super good for servers. I may be wrong though. :|

True that....I just wish AMD would turn up the speed. Then they would be better at both :)

I'm still running whats in my sig..

Geez I have honestly forgotten what I have in my computer I haven't paied attention to it in so long. Yeah, last christmas I spent a pretty penny, it's been worth every cent because I still have no problem playing ANY game on the market. Maybe I just got one of thoes weird rare setups.

Nothing has gone wrong in over a year, haven't touched one piece of hardware, not had to open the case for any hardware issue. I do format every 3-4 months (haven't in about 6) but only because I want to and have the tools avaliable to do so..

I am in love with this thing. And my old computer, that I built awhile back with my old spair parts, 1800+ with 256pc2100 and radeon8500, abit kg7 has been running non stop 24/7 with like 10 reboots consistant for 4 months now. Nothin is wrong with either of them.

Sorry to brag and take the thread but I just realized this again today. I must have great luck with computers.

AMD + Radeon + Abit owns all.

i still use my p3 800 mhz and 1.1 gig amd for gaming...they can still run all of todays games...they can even run doom 3 to my surprise...doom 3 requires 1.5 gig cpu and both the 800 mhz and 1.1 gig run it...strange indeed

though all settings have to be at their lowest the game plays with good frames

atholon 01-20-2005 12:48 PM

:) I think it is funny.

My bro has a P4 with HT and stuff I think it is a 2.8 ghtz.
Anywho. My processor running at 2.0 gig runs faster than his :) I have exact same ram and stuff too :)

Scattergun 01-21-2005 05:50 PM

P4 processor 3.4 Ghz runs great for games and i dont do servers :D

VooDoo- 01-21-2005 09:51 PM

intel can shine my nob ..... :D

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-492&depa=0

best cpu money can buy ...

Scattergun 01-22-2005 08:53 PM

IT is only a 2.6 Ghz though

2.8 is the standard for Intell now

Dr. Bullet 01-22-2005 09:23 PM

It doesn't matter what speed it's at. It either runs stuff faster or it doesn't. Benchmark after benchmark after benchmark has shown that AMD's run way better than "faster" HT enabled Intels. It's blatantly clear that the best for gaming is AMD. I've seen benchmarks where even 32 bit AMDs have smoked the HT intels. Besides, AMD is cheaper:D

Recon 01-23-2005 02:21 AM

AMD all the way...
