It's probably your graphics card getting too hot. Have you cleaned its heatsink lately? Do you have enough cooling. I see ppl saying this a lot, and it's usually their card.

Hope that helps.

lol heat sink? how i clean that?

Scorpion101 05-26-2004 09:40 PM

You can buy a can of compressed air from most puter stores, or you can do it the hard way...close your eyes and BLOW HARD!...lol
No honestly, the can of air is the best way, as it comes with a small tube that you can aim into all the little gaps etc.
It is best to clean out a system AT LEAST once a month, taking particular attention to the heatsinks and fan blades that will collect dust and not do their job properly.
If a system can handle it, I would always install an extra case fan too, to get the air flowing nicely. At the moment, mine has six fans - p/supply fan, graphics fan, 2 case fans and 2 little ones on a special assy for the hard drive bay, to keep it cool. 7200RPM drives tend to run hotter than the older drves, so I did that to extend the life of mine. Cost about $8-10USD.

Remember, a cool system is a happy system....works faster too.
