A victim of the media & the government

Iraqi War ''Hero'' shot in the nude

When US soldier Jessica Lynch fell into Iraqi captivity on March 23, the American media was already desperate to find the next "Hero" in the war against Iraq. Nine days later, Lynch was bravely "rescued" from "captivity" in what was widely described in Washington as a heroic military operation.

Ever since, Lynch has become a "star" in American media. The US administration, which has been harshly criticized for its intervention in Iraq, has wholeheartedly embraced Lynch, contributing to the media blitz surrounding the young soldier.

Lynch has already written a book entitled "I Am a Soldier, Too: The Jessica Lynch Story," which covers the days between March 23, when her 507th Maintenance Company convoy was ambushed in Nassiriyah, and April 1, when she was evacuated from a hospital by US special commandos.

In addition, the movie "Saving Jessica Lynch", which unravels the "rescue operation", has already been aired throughout the United States.

It appears the US administration isn't bothered by the facts that serious journalistic investigations, such as the one launched by the British BBC, have proved the "rescue operation" had been staged and fabricated. As it turns out, following Lynch's fall into captivity, she was actually treated by Iraqis and when the US commandos came to "rescue" her, they weren't met by any resistance whatsoever. Furthermore, the reports which said Lynch fell into captivity during combat turned to be untrue. Not a single bullet was shot from her gun. Lynch was injured as a result of her vehicle's turnover.

As part of attempts to stain the Iraqi people's name, Lynch suddenly "remembered" now that she was raped by her Iraqi captors, the New-York Daily News recently reported. This new "revelation" was unfolded in her new biography. According to the book's author, medical examinations conducted on Lynch showed she had been raped during her captivity. Moreover, he added that "due to her injuries, Lynch lost three hours of her memory; and therefore she didn't remember the rape". ''I Am a Soldier, Too: The Jessica Lynch Story''

With regards to the book's credibility, let us just mention that her 207 page biography was written by journalist Rick Bragg, who resigned from his post at the New York Times after admitting he published an article in his name, which actually turned out to be written by another journalist.

These days, it seems the new American "star" isn’t as moral and innocent as others wished to portray her. Hustler porno publisher Larry Flynt recently said he wouldn’t publish the nude pictures he had of the young soldier, after originally claiming he would publish them in the January 2004 edition of his magazine.

Flynt said he had purchased nude photos of Jessica Lynch from two soldiers who served with her "to keep them out of circulation." "I purchased them at first with the intention of publishing them, however, I quickly changed my mind and decided simply to keep them out of circulation," Flynt said in a statement. "If Jessica Lynch wants to join the army and see the world, and if she wants to have a good time while she's at it, I'm not here to judge her."

Pornographer Flynt described Lynch as a pawn in Washington's "cynical attempt to create a 'hero' who can 'sell' the war to the American people" and added "she's a good kid".

"She's a victim of the media and the Government, co-conspirators desperate to justify the war in Iraq." "My first intention was to publish them, but I don't think it was the best, positive move I could make," Flynt said. "She's very much a pawn for the government. They force-fed us a Joan of Arc." ''Rescue'' operation
The photos reportedly feature a topless Lynch, 20, originally from Palestine (W. Virginia) playing around with two men at Fort Bliss, Texas, where she was stationed before shipping off to Iraq earlier this year.

Lynch, a supply clerk, was riding in a convoy on March 23 when her company was ambushed near Nassiriya. Eleven soldiers died and nine were injured. Army officials initially reported that Lynch fought desperately before being captured. Officials released a video showing her dramatic "rescue" from the Iraqi hospital by US Special Forces.

Lynch later said she had not fired a single bullet because her weapon jammed, and she was injured when her Humvee was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade and crashed. The Army acknowledged that the convoy blundered into the ambush after getting lost and that many of the unit's weapons malfunctioned during the battle.

The former POW's attorney, Stephen Goodwin, recently said in a statement, "It's incredulous that anyone would think it appropriate in any way to attempt to publish unauthorized photos of Jessica - photos taken before she was deployed to Iraq and before her capture and rescue."

Meanwhile, Flynt would not say what he paid for the photographs, which he said he'd lock in a vault; however, the porno magazine reportedly paid a 6-figure sum for the pictures. "Some things are more important than money," he said. "You gotta do the right thing."

Lynch, for her part, has refused to comment on the affair; but spokespersons on behalf of the book's publishing company criticized Flynt's attempts to tarnish the soldier's image. Furthermore, they added that if "Jessica had survived Iraqi captivity, she could handle anything."

So what else can we expect from the controversial superstar Iraqi war "hero"? In what ways does the American establishment wish to further exploit the young US soldier? It appears that from the way things are rolling now, it's just a matter of time before Lynch gets to host her own talk show on US prime time TV…

He who controls the MEDIA controls the WORLD, and the USA is the numero uno when it comes to Media. It's even a stronger & deadlier weapon than those "Weapon of Mass Destruction" or Nuke. Who agrees with me?

BADDOG 12-22-2003 05:39 AM

Unfortunately all the worlds media is biased one way or another. The BBC often claims that it is neutral on issuses but if you listen to their broadcasts, and I often do, you can quite easily detect the BBC's own agenda and bias.

The BBC is essentially a middle class institution and as such this reflects in it's reporting, usually it reflects a more left wing view point of view although during the Conservative governments reign, it was noticealble how the BBC cow towed to Tory policies.

In short don't trust every thing the BBC tells you as often it is wrong and biased.

Regards

SilentTrigger 12-22-2003 11:41 AM

If there is a Murdoch in a movie, hes allways evil! Strange...

animal_mutha 12-22-2003 09:05 PM

LOL!!! I remembered one murdoch.... from the "A Team". But he aint bad.... he's nuts!! LOL!!!

anyway, Wow... that murdoch guy must've made a deal with the devil to own such a mass media!! So is he one of the "Forbes" list of powerful.... or richest people by any chance?

Lakie 12-23-2003 12:20 AM

Rupert Murdoch is the 27th on the Forbes 400 Richest people in America 2003

BADDOG 12-23-2003 05:25 AM

Didn't Murdoch become an American citizen BB? The Italian prime minister,Silvio Berloscunni owns most of the media there does he not? It seems to much power to be in the hands of so few individuals but then that's free enterprise for you some one sooner or later gets a monopoly!

I will say this for Rupert Murdoch, he certainly shook up British television and it really did need a good shaking up too! Sky television is now in 10 million homes across the U.K. and that has given people a lot more choice in what they view.

Warm Regards & Seasons Greetings:) ;) :p

Lakie 12-23-2003 09:05 AM

last i heard he was trying but the good old reliable red tape was getting in the way, this was some months ago though...
