IP Reset?

Some people has been telling me to change your IP, *IF* your behind a router, just un-plug the router and plug it back in. Can anyone back this up, just a little curious..

Broadband Cable or Dsl or Dial up?

IcIshoot 01-22-2005 08:53 PM

depends if your ISP gives you a static or a dynamic IP address.

I have an dynamic so yes, by unplugging the router I get a new 1 (It may be possible for the ISP to give you an IP for x amount of time, if so then it won't change until the time is up)

If you have a static, then nope.

If you dont got a router Unplug your Internet for about 5-10 mins then try to get back on it

You can try going into command and typing ipconfig /release and the ipconfig /renew :)

Yes unless you have a static IP it will change.

That is what static means :)

Dialup always changes.

Scattergun 01-24-2005 08:35 PM

so does DSL well most of the time

atholon 01-24-2005 09:00 PM

Depends most dsl is always on and is static.

IcIshoot 01-25-2005 06:40 AM

I have dsl and my IP is dynamic, I have to pay around $60 a month to get the static IP plan.

I know of 1 maybe 2 other DSL users whose IP is dynamic.

Now my friend has cable and his is static.

It all depends on your provider.

Scattergun 01-25-2005 05:28 PM

lol i gotta pay 30$ a month for 10 Mbps or 60$ for 100 Mbps or 100$ for 400Mbps

The last one is for buisnesses
