Can't join any game on Novalogic
 

Another long time member Tanya mention the same problem:

I started getting it last night too around 9 pm and was able to join Hawk's game around 10:15 pm and play until Hawk went offline at midnight.

Then tonight I got on the first time about 7 pm and got the same thing you did.

Once I log into Novalogic everything moves real slow and I get sysdump just trying to join a server or even Exit Novalogic and trying to quit the entire program, I get sysdump.

It's Novalogic, it's not us.

Here's a screenshot showing even the graphics on the screen don't show up correctly.

Anyone else has issue with Novalogic?

what you need to do is this:


join the lobby of the game you want to play. next, dont do anything. just wait about 10-15 mins and let the connection sort itself out. then you should be able to join a server.

So For example from the screenshot above, I click on Jax's SO Maps, click JOIN and then just leave it there?

As soon as I click Join it SYSDUMP me

even before I try to join, as soon as I get to that screenshot above after logging into Novalogic, everything slows down, mouse will barely move, music cuts in and out, just like Tanya described in my OP

I have been playing on Novalogic playing all the Delta Force games since about 2000 and never had any SYSDUMP at the Novalogic screen above.

This just started doing it yesterday and from what Tanya wrote and what the other members wrote on Novaworld forum, I am not the only one experiencing the same thing.

Email THQ Nordic. I have emailed them before about Novalogic server in 8/2019, 6/2020, 7/2020.

They replied to me in each one of those 3 instances so they are in charge of Novalogic and their servers now.

Let them know there are still 100s and 100s of people playing Novalogic online every week and they need to take better care of their servers!!

Yeah it is weird. I am trying to test BHDTS and I login and then tell it to go to a lobby and it fails.

I tried everything on firefox and it seems to work.

So I decided to do some wireshark dumps. the file for the lobby in my testcase is http://207.178.209.204/tsab_6_a.glb?a=1 and it looks like BHDTS is not even attempting to pull that file.

I decrypted and decoded the tsab_6_a.glb and the file is fine.
BHDTS uses IBrowse.dll to do the browser stuff and for some reason it must be broken with how the page is currently being presented.

It could be something else I will try to figure it out.

I am also getting SYSDUMP when I click on Exit the game.

If this is the end of Novalogic online game playing, we had a good run but it's still sad.

Been playing since 1999 and back then I was on a 52k Dial Up.

I made many friends playing Novalogic online and some of them have passed on.

Seen some go on to have family and kids just like I did.

It's like one big family!!

I try to reply in that thread and got the message I did not buy Joint Ops and I can't reply in it because I don't own a copy of Joint Ops.

WTF is that logic?!?

So from what I can tell that is going on is the IBGL.DLL is the cause of the problem.

in the webpage for loading the lobby. The game goes to connect to the server and instantly closes the connection.

This could be due to a multi thread bug on new CPU, which I am guess is not the case. but the code calls GetTickCount which would be used for the timeout. I am guessing it is the problem.

if i get to lobby let sit couple minutes it stops skipping and lets me in

Hey it worked for me!!!!

I log in.

I click on PUBLIC CAMPAIGN.

Then I did nothing and after about 4 minutes all those white squares not showing anything turn into green dots and I was able to move the mouse, the music stopped cutting off, I could join a game.

What is wrong with it?

Turns out that my problem is related to linux and wine. Both 32bit and 64bit. It used to work in the past so new wine version is breaking it.

I haven't done any Windows update to my PC in years so it couldn't be my PC.

The only thing that gets updated is Microsoft Security Essentials and Google Chrome browser.

But the browser is not used to start and run the game.

I can play the game fine single player, it's once I log into Novaworld it starts acting up.

looks like novalogic has public lobby access that does not need a password or a lobby file.
