1942 awesome game, original and best........ "enemy submarine spotted" heheh

Baldo_the_Don 06-22-2016 05:14 AM

Well, except for the BF 1942 demo, I haven't played any of these games.

I like BF2, though. Quite a bit.

City Ace 06-22-2016 05:27 AM

I might be the only one here who didnt yet played Battlefield 1942 :-[

Kept hold of BF1942 and BF2 but Uninstalled BF3 and steered well clear of BF4 and all things origin from now on.

Me either, had BF2, BF Vietnam, BF3
BFV was the best game i played after the DF series but it faded out quick with players moving into the next BF Series

City Ace 06-23-2016 09:44 PM

Battlefield 2

Battlefield 2 was an awesome game and was my favorite of all time as far as FPS

City Ace 06-28-2016 06:52 AM

Looks like most of the BF players liked the classics most.

Battlefield 2 was the best, but I've also been enjoying Hardline. Have played 1058 hours of that to date.

Nope, I'm the same as you.

I know this post is a dead horse, but I'm going to beat it anyway.

The way BF1942 handled sea, land, and air was incredible and ground breaking. This important thing about 'classic' PC games was always this: Software Development Kits (modding tools), and private server rentals for game clans. Where is that today on these cookie cutter cross platform money grabs?

It can be argued that the Desert Combat Mod for BF1942 started the modern combat genre in gaming and at a minimum, all of all the future Battlefield series. My clan had a COOP Desert Combat server and we allowed the griefers to join the opfor team and it became the highest ranked COOP server in the game. It was like you could begin the game time in coop and it would turn into full on pvp.

We know the talent behind Desert Combat was utilized for BF2. I felt the gun play in BF2 was lacking but at least it gave me (us) Project Reality. I never thought BF2 was any match for Joint Operations. I think the best game in the series since BF1942 was BFBC2.

I always hope some AA developer will bring back those days for PC. I hope developers bring back modding tools and dedicated server rentals. It's been 15 years since JO:TR and we are playing 64, 32, and 16 players in games?

is there a fix for installing battlefield 2 into windows 10 and or bypassing the EA registration ?

Battlefield 2 for its modabilty. But im trying be unbias toward thr classics. i have to say that out of all of them, I've played BF4 the most and i think that i have enjoyed it the most.

Bf2 and 1942 were great for their time, but if you ignore nostalgia and timeframe Bc2, bf3/4 beats the classics hands down for me.

BF1 was pretty good, but i lost interest after that. BfV had 0% of my attention. Not even cosidering it...

Yes, one of the bests things from BF2 was PR, which lead to my current favorite game of all time, Squad. Btw, Squad is currently at 80 players per server, soon they'll be bumping it up to 100. I played on a test server for the squad devs with 100 players and it played fine. Theres a few kinks they're going to iron out though before its the new standard.

Also, i understand Joint Ops has a high player cap, but the netcode was also kind of junk. Even with 20ms ping it still felt really delayed and sluggish.
