Laptop rebuild?

kk but for future reference it's pretty tricky to custom build a laptop, a lot of the time the parts are made to fit into a specific model. major brands have spare parts, but you pay a premium because the parts are made in low numbers. it's fiddly, and you will probably break something but you can do it yourself :D (easier of you downlaod a manual offline).

There isn't much room inside the cases, trying to remove anything can be very fiddly and the strange shaped circuit boards can be easily damaged.

Someone was pushing for a laptop standard like desktops have, so they could be upgraded as easily as a desktop. i read about it on the OCAU website and saw a vid interview from the company at E3.

Why there never was a standard for laptop components is beyond me, except maybe the laptop makers bottom line and forcing the owners to buy or upgrade through them.

Everyone is trying to squeeze as much as possible into the smallest package they can.
Usually the only standard items used are CPU's, HDD's and memory strips.

Sometimes a laptop model will have 2 or 3 motherboard versions which will only fit and work with components designed for that specific version.

Pretty soon now it will become uneconomical to do component replacement on laptops.
The only things that might be replaced would be easily identifiable faults like broken connectors.
