Is Geocities gonna really start charging people per month for web hosting? I have my feeble attempt at a web site http://www.geocities.com/funny_face_dflw through them and have this question to pose for all you web masters. What is the best free site out there that can at least meet these qualifications?: -> offers at least 15MB of space (more is better) -> uses the click-n-drag creation set up ( for idiots like me who don't know how to use html effectively. "page builder" -> no annoying pop up windows and the like (( if this is mandatory it's ok )) -> has a good reputation -> and will not be charging me anything in the near future!!! If someone can hook me up with a good place for me to host a "redesigned" web site, I will be eternally grateful!! Funny Face |
Geocities is only charging for their premium packages. They're still going to have the free 15 MB sites available.

sooooo ... my 15 mb site is still good w/out having to pay any $$$???

"Beginning April 2, 2002, we will no longer provide FTP access as part of our free home page service."
looks like its gonna cost. but their message is confusing if u read on. "If you decide not to upgrade your GeoCities web site, you can still upload files using the Easy Upload tool which is accessible within File Manager. " soo who knows |

All that means is that Geocities will no longer allow people who have a 15 MB free webpage to upload anything through their direct FTP server. They will have to use the easy webpage uploader instead of using the FTP server protocol. So yes, you get to keep your free 15 MB sites, you just have to use the easy uploader provided in the File Manager.

hmmmmm! trying to figure out if i've ever used that way or not??
