maps with challenge
 

I was wondering if anyone has made any " real life " maps i mean terrain and things you would find in a real combat area? look at history WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Deesert Storm, ect. i would like to play on some of these types of maps if someone can make them. course if i could figure out the 1st thing how to make maps that would help also hehe.

Difficult to do because of the restrictions in the map design tools.

To begin with terrains can not be made in the editor. It needs to be done manually and is a laborious and complex process. Once the terrains are constructed you need then to know how to install them properly and THEN all people playing need to have it running.

Second there are only a few items in DFLW maps you can play with and even then you only have a restricted number you can use. There is not a lot of stuff that looks like WW2 itmes etc so again only the most experinced and imaginative map makers would succeed.

There was a dude in here recently who said he had made a map that is based on sattelite photographs of Afghan terrain but I understand that it is pointed and difficult to add items too.

Maybe in DF4 mate but unlikely to be pulled off with any accuracy with DFLW map editors

i know someone who has made the best pearl harbour terrain and also Iwo Jiima terrain. plus about 20more of the best terrains u ever saw. he may release them. but it means a lot of maps will have to be made for them. and he doesnt have time at the moment but i'm working on him.

That sounds really cool Stevieb let me know when he releases them would love to play on those

youd hear if there was a release, it would be twice the size of EXP:LW

If you want, once I finish my site and tutorials for terrain making, I could build some Desert Storm or Vietnam or even Koreea maps for you. But it may be a while . . .

I would like some terrains with lots of hills around decent sized flat-spots. Something you can build a city on surrounded by large hilss and mountains. I know MED has some like this but would like some variety. I have tried making terrains and find it almost as painful as a thorough root canal! I will leave the terrains to the pros and stick to mapping.:guns: :fu:
