Just wondering how to check my PING?
 

Since my brain is still out of town on a vacation, may I ask you a question???:eek:

How do I find out what my ping rate is?

Please be specific cuz the two brain cells that didn't go on vacation are sleeping!!

Here's an easy way to do check ping:

1. open a DOS window at your desktop in Windows

2. Type: ping [IP address] Ex. If I want to ping df-hq: ping 64.119.162.212

That should do it.

cool ... the avg was 78 is that good or bad?


When I'm in a map is there a way to be able to find the ping for that map or server?

Lower is better ... right?????

ping of 78 is very good to me. i use ip4lw u can see the ping rates of the game servers in last collumn.
Here in europe best ping i ever had was 160ms... (56k modem).
Usually i play online with ping rates around 300..
Especially on NL servers ping is bad. NL doesn't have game servers in europe so we all have to go to the US servers. Makes me a little laggy i guess.

what is ip4lw? and how do i get it?

ip4lw download can be found in delta 3 >utilities on the main page of this site.
It shows the ip number of the server and locks it in as a favorite so next time u want to play that server it is there. It also shows the ping of the game. DF2/3 Favorates is another program the same (but even shows what map is being played)
78 ping is great i ping my isp at 195. :confused:

And how many ppl r in the game. Installing is piece of cake. i could do it.
Remind that if you use the button "browse NW"for adding servers the url it goes to is wrong. I don't have in mind what it is . Someone else?

This last remark is maybe a liitle confusing. Just read the manual what comes with it.

Usin it for a few days now. It's great. You don't have to browse on NW anymore to find your fav severs.

BTW if no reply comes to the right URL i will post it here in time. Im working now and got the url @ home.

a little tip from me... i saw an interessting tool to show you the ping in game!!! i found it on a german site but no fear it's all in english.... with this little program it's able to show your actual ping in the game with one key!!! it's something like iplw... but better you check them out... here is the url to find that pretty prog called df-commander... http://www.ops-gmbh.de/kat_2/dl_tools.htm
