Whats the best...
Graphics card? im looking to buy a new one and getting rid of my ATI Rage, which gives me alot of problems playing other games such as mohaa, i get some multi texture error when i goto play it. and i want one so i can see alot better while play dftfd.
so in your own opinion what would you recommend? |
HOW MUCH $$$$$$$ £££££££ €€€€€€€€€ ?
|
price is not an issue

|
ritey, i'll head down the town n see what i can get.
|
k the guy in the shop said i cant get newer cards cos of some x16 or something, soooo i went and got a x4 GeForce4, cos i seen on another post alot of u have GeForce cards. so i hope its better
|
if im correct the guy ment the AGP pipelines for your vidcard, check with your motherboard supplyer to know how much you mb can handle. Or look it up in the manual.
|
its cool this one works pretty good, ALOT better than my old one! i can see alot better in dftfd and im able to play mohaa n other games too :D  :D
|
If the price wasn't an issue, why the heck did you go for a GF4?!?!? Why not a Radeon 9800 or a GF FX5950 Ultra?!?
|
because the ones he had wouldnt work on my pc, he said it would blow up the motherboard something about x16 or something. so i had to buy the one he already had in. im pretty sure i said that up there ^^ big man.

Well, then u got screwed bigtime. Cuz it doesn't matter what kinda MOBO you have when u put in a videocard. The 16x was the AGP16x. It means that ur Videocard has 16x supported. Older MOBO's have 8x maximum, but it doesn't mean the card won't work, it will even work on AGP 2x. The only thing then is that the card is working below its capabilities.

but yea i 'got screwed bigtime' LOL now be gone peasant  |
The guy probably does know what hes talking about, but morph is right, (BTW it's 2x, 4x, and 8x for agp). Any card would have worked on you computer weither it was 2x, 4x 8x apg etc as long as you have an AGP slot. You didn't nessairly get "screwed" because your motherboard wouldn't let the more advanced graphics run at full speed. But if you plan to upgrade your computer at all somtime later, it would have been smarter to get the nicer card.
Nothing would have went wrong with the MB, it wouldn't have "blown up" the card would only run as fast as your mb allowed it to. If the guy at the store mentioned 16x agp to you at all he shouldn't be working there, or hes got some secret that no graphics company knows. |
U're right Panther.
U mentioned it urself mobile: $$ wasn't an issue. In last post u said: "i doubt that cos the one i have was cheaper than the one i was gonna buy but got told not to." BTW, u always believe what people at the store tell you? Always find out the info by urself, try to compare things with eachother. People at the store alwys tell bull**** about that kinda things. I got a GF4 4200TI 128DDR and got it clocked, the card is 1,5 years old, and it's out of date already, but can sell it for some big bucks (looking at the prices for same card, I go under it a little, and blow dust off it, LOL and make it shine again :D). Then I get myself a nice new Videocard which won't cost me much, cuz I sold the other 1. That's the way it works....welcome to hardwareland:p |
lol well yea i should believe them cos they know more than me? i took the advice the guy told me. at the end of the day this graphics card im using now is better than ma old one.
i'll get another one soon enough. |
