Attention All AGP users!
anyone with an AGP slot would seriously consider getting a new graphics card
introducing the Radeon HD 3850 now for AGP users! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131090 i ordered mine just in time, theres 2 versions of that, the version i ordered went out of stock a day after i ordered it. better hurry and get this version before it goes out of stock aswell! times a wastin! |
it's a shame that ATi have stopped support for AGP in their drivers. my m8 bought a 2600 AGP but it didnt work with cod4 becasue the maunfacturers drivers were pants, and the old ATi ones dont work with some of the new games.
he was goign to get the 38xx agp card but ithink his mobo just went bang so he's gonna get a whole new system instead. it's a plenty powerful card tho, let us know how u get on. |
ill let ya know how well it works out
|
what's ur system spec dude?
|
Eh, I have a Geforce 7900GS and my system is already bottleknecked by my XP 2800+ Processor.
Next upgrade is to Core 2 Duo!! w00t |
Processor: Dual Core AMD Opteron 180 ~2.4GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM Hard Drive: 239 GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy Operating System: XP SP2 Motherboard was manufactured by MSI i couldnt pinpoint what it was exactly but: System Slots 5 PCI, 1 AGP 4 RAM slots(2 used) socket 939 the ram are PC3200 (200 mhz) |
steve i wouldn't reccomend your friend getting one anytime soon, mine came in today.
I uninstalled the old drivers, powered down, slipped in my new card, powered up, and i put in the driver's installation cd but nothing happened. it was all OMG nEW hArDwAre (exageration) and i was all OMG i kn0!!!!11!! F1nd AnD inStA11 drivers from cd, bro! and it was all ...uhh dude you dont have the cd in the drive... i downloaded the drivers from ATi's website and those installers said it doesnt even recgonise the OS or Hardware. so i downloaded the drivers from Sapphires website and that worked mainly... it works and all but everything is messed up... im not kidding, the counter strike stress test is nothing but a rainbow of colors and crap that didnt used to be like that, textures messing up and repeating in the wrong colors, all that horrible stuff. |
ATi's AGP drivers suck at the moment.
My ATi X1950 Pro sucked compared to the Nvidia 7900GS |
talk about some SERIOUS BULL****!
i leave my computer on this morning like i always do, i come home to see it doesnt turn on... here we go again btw im on my brother's computer |
i still got my old skool 9800XT KKTHX
|
im gonna RMA that card and get my refund, and hopefully sell whats left for something decent money and get a new one that doesnt suck ass like this... [/angry]
on the bright side im about to get a job for $8 p/hr working with my mom at biggs. cant wait to see how big my first check is |
sry m8, kinda warned ya ;)
why are they producing highend gaming cards that can't play the new games?? :/ :( |
thank god i finally got it fixed.
after my computer quit starting, i figred it was the power supply, i was right. my old 500 watt power supply was broke so i purchased a 650 watt one for $100 at a computer mall. got that swapped and blah blah blah its working fine again. I got my old 7800 GS back in there and ive never been happier to hear its really loud fan. im sendin my 3850 back for a refund. this all coulda been avoided but i got a little computer repair experience with it but lost $100 for the power supply btw i ran benchmarks! Best advice i can give is go with nvidea until AMD/ATI start producing what they claim to be able to.
read the frontpage news here about AMD/ATI, you can ignore the hardware reviews... http://www.overclockers.com/home.asp |

he went and got one the other day, however it works flawlessley! now he can rock along in COD4 with no problems at all. dont know if he's using the manufacturer's drivers or the only ati ones though. |
