Idea against Cheats
 

Ok I dunno if this is possible, I emailed Nove the other day, asking about a kind of 3rd party anti-cheat group....This would work in a way that certain people that have authorisation to remove cheats from the Nova server games, then email Nova about the specific person, which would hopefully have the cheat suspended for say like 4 weeks.....

I say 4 weeks because a lot of people only cheat because they are no good at the game, and the 4 week ban would hit the spot, thus making them realise that they want to play the game online with friends and make them want to join a reputible squad.... If say the people who were chosen were also asked to run a website, which would hold the relevent details of the people who cheat and the people currently suspended, would make our lives a lot easier and our gaming more fun.

A lot of people cheat just to try and cheat a cheat, then most of them become addicted to the easy winning and carry on cheating. If you give the cheater a total of say 3 chances, and they still continued to cheat then they should get say a 6mth ban.....

I don't know guys this is just an idea that I thought about last week, because they really get on my nerves in the games too....Please gimme some feedback on this and don't just read the post..

This is a good idea. Hopefully NL will do something with it. But, I prefer the method of getting an address to the cheaters home and paying a visit for a little "chat" about the issue. :D

I agree mate, b4 I used to go to all the trouble of finding there IP's and hacking there pc's but this is highly illegal and I don't wanna risk getting jailed for messing a cheaters PC up lol, so I just thought of a more legal and safe way about it!:~)

Ok it's hard to explain unless you're clued up on the way computers connect to the net, lame ass surfers, hackers, use what is known as a floating IP which basically means the IP they use when they connect to the net is a fake one, and when they connect again a different IP is displayed. If you're like me and you wanna pass all this stuff and get there IP you can get it lol, Nova Logic should have this kind of software seen as they run their own servers.

Thus enabling them to put a timed ban onto the cheaters IP, very basic like I said but only if you understand IP's and connections lol

It's really quite simple:

1) STOP WHINGING ABOUT CHEATERS - we KNOW they piss everyone off

2) HOST YOUR OWN GAME, or join a squad that's got at least 1 member with the pc-power to host a game

3) ASK THEM TO STOP CHEATING, and tell them their score will be disregarded for that game

4) WARN THEM they'll be punted if they continue

5) PUNT THEIR SORRY ARSE out the door

If they don't come back after that, then so much the better.
If they come back in and don't cheat, then it's also worked.
If, however, they come in and persist with their cheating, then repeat steps 4 and 5.
If that still doesn't work and they come back in a 3rd time, and STILL they insist on cheating, then BAN THEM!!!

If all else fails, wait til the person is punted/banned, inform the other players you're setting up a PASSWORD GAME, then do so and close the public game.

If you're so paranoid about cheaters, then get ICQ or some other messenger service and only inform people you trust, before setting up a password game.

FINAL NOTE: I thought LW was supposed to be played by people who (at the very least) act like adults, and play in an adult environment, so stop whining like a bunch of kids and HAVE FUN, or uninstall the damn game and give the CD to someone who WILL.

And who are you to tell us we're whiners? you sound like a cheater to me, we don't all wanna run our own public servers or password games, we wanna have fun on the Nova servers. You have seen the poll now beat it!

Crazy this post is out of order. he gives suggestions and his own viewpoint and u come out with stuff like that! AUS is a respected squad and are nice ppl, i dont want them to consider DF-HQ a place where they are not welcome.

Crazy, your idea of a 3rd party program to help get rid of these people is in theory a bloody great idea. :) It's just a little harder to put into practice. I was just offering a suggestion (or two) for dealing with people who seem to be intent on spoiling a good game.
