Hellfighter 10-03-2017 01:09 PM

Scott 10-03-2017 01:42 PM

It should continue updating chief. No idea what happened to Airplane mode. I don't see it anymore either unless I am on a device that is only on a network via wifi. My plugged in desktop does not have that icon anymore..

Hellfighter 10-05-2017 09:22 PM

will redoing it something was not right, way windows 10 was tryiing to download updates and stop 80% down and start over again endless, this time fully install windows 7pro ans take my time update it not to rush it, like i did last time only update 25% then install win10

update windows 7pro 100%! then do windows 10pro

Hellfighter 10-06-2017 01:25 AM

yep i was right, had to install windows 7pro fully updated so windows 10 get install right and air plane mod is back and i disable that fool thing too. i couldn't get updates for windows 10 keep cutting off! (i mean it try 200.00x never fully get them downloaded) guess it was a framework item didn't get install in windows 7 due to i rush it before it was added to windows 7 for windows 10 to use! its acting right now windows 10 pro x64 is fully updated now, don't know? it didn't feel right guess you can say!

Windows 10 Creators Update ruined my system twice in the last few days, it also created a windows.old directory (this is usually only when a new OS is installed) and broke the registrations of all my Local programs.

Several have now stated their activations are expired or I have breached the agreement and installed it on 2 PC's at the same time (not true)

So I Just had to pay out $266 to renew a program I really need, lost Corel and Serif apps as well.

Scott 10-09-2017 11:53 AM

That sucks stomp. Guess I've gotten pretty lucky with the Creators Update. Other then having a hard time getting windows update to fully download it and it taking forever to install it's been pretty good. I have it on 20+ computers right now (including the computers I manage at work). I really like Windows 10, honestly the best OS I've ever used. A couple things I hate are the forced app downloads and installs, and smart screen blocking non-store downloaded apps for less savvy users.

The Windows.old directory is so you can revert back to the previous version (build 1607). You can get rid of it and free up about 20+ gigs of space using the disk cleanup tool in Windows. Start > Search Disk Cleanup, right click and run as Admin. Select previous windows installations and it'll remove that directory from your computer.

What app did you have to buy a new license for?

MS didn't give me a chance to revert - 2 days later it deleted all of it, the Windows.old and the Installer directory that was on the System Drive Root.

Today after another unannounced and huge update (Major- again!) I find another windows.old and no Installer Dir... Grrr

Well Scott my old mate, I just have to comment on any opinion that praises W10.

This is now in the Documents Folder for example. wmd_symbol_cache

With that and other similar folder dumps, even if you wanted to use the Documents folder for your stuff it's far too crowded with all the abuse of it from vendors and MS.

All up I think it's the worst operating system ever invented.

Everything is gradually being turned into an X Box style OS

It just relies on today's PC hardware grunt and bludgeons it's way consuming resources at will.

It's also no good for Devs with all the new security restrictions on PF and PF (x86), making revision of old apps impossible, it's killing of Exe's whenever it can and it totally controls the User Experience and so on...

I don't see anything good about it I'm afraid

Guest001 11-16-2017 09:12 PM

What I mean is ... For the time it's been around it should be light years ahead of where it is now.

It's been based on the original NTFS system all this time and in fact I can still find DOS and Windows 3 files that are still in place, It's still a legacy system dressed up as a modern one with fix after fix and the runtime must go through several iterations of the old system calls until it reaches the current version and now as they finally head into unknown territory they continually use us (the public) as the testers.

you can also go to device manager and uninstall the network adaptor but be sure to leave the software then scan for hardware changes and it will reinstall. this usually works for me whenever I need to reset my network.
