i actually did this a few days ago. no sound through the hdmi cable, only out the speakers. i didnt try unhooking the speakers, u could try that, but idk. i kinda doubt it would work, but u never know. i switched back to my monitor tho cuz the text on my tv was too small to read from six feet away and i dont have my room set up so i can move closer.

You will not get audio with DVI, but it does work great, use it with my laptop and my 42 inch LCD tv. I just use an RCA cable from the headphone jack into my NAD amplifier which works great :)

It's alot better then the VGA calble combo on the last foto you have.

Check your TV for audio input, that's your option for getting sound alongside DVI video.

If it's that red/white RCA connector look up RCA to 3.5 mm adapter, I got so many that they're in an actual pile.

That's what I did also. My audio runs out from my TV to my sterio system. And I set the audio to variable so I never need to adjust volume on my sterio.

One thing I did find out is the RF and the Audio/Video (red, white and yellow RCA plugs) connections aren't as good (picture quality) as the Comp or HDMI connections. So all my connections to my cable box & my DVD player/recorder will be HDMI or comp.

However, the RF connection is better than the AV connection!

Btw, I checked Radio Shack for HDMI cords. They wanted $50 for a 3ft. cord and $75 for a 6ft. cord. Walmart sells them 15ft. for $6.98. My cable tech said the $6.98 HDMI cord is just as good as a $75 cord ! Imagine that !!

i got my HDMI cable 50ft gold plated connection's for USD-18.00 around about
at amazon.com

SilentTrigger 01-12-2011 11:24 AM

Thats really cheap! :)

Hellfighter 01-12-2011 12:00 PM

yea i gone to amazon.com search: hdmi cable
found a long listing of cables for it, same with VGA Cable 50ft for like around USD 8.00 or 12.00 as will too

Do cheap HDMI cables give a cheap picture, cause I bought some expensive ones...I can't tell the difference...this tech is moving so fast...

M,

I was told there are no difference between a $75 dollar cord & an $6.98 dollar cord.

If you've not opened it up yet, take it back !

To reiterate, HDMI uses digital signals. Digital signal are comprised of 0's and 1's and aren't effected by outside sources unless the copper itself was coroding. Gold plated ends, nitro-whatever injected cables, turboderp werptaherp rejangled $250 hdmi cables perform exactly the same as $5 cheapos. You just became a victim of false advertising and lost money.

now the 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 standards, those you can get the better of. If you have the choice between getting an hdmi 1.3 and an hdmi 1.4, you should go for 1.4 as long as it's under $3 per foot. But I guess in your case 1.3 may be the best for you.

* Experience digital high definition of your video in one cable
* Enjoy movies and games at up to 1920p resolution
* Superior audio via the Dolby Digital 7.1 Surround Sound output
* Double shielded, lossless cable audio and video cable quality.
* Supports Video 1.3b Resolutions: 1080-1920p.

dave61 01-16-2011 08:37 AM

Is 1920p possible? Are there TV's availiable that display higher resolution than 1080p?

Even if, no cable/sattellite provider delivers higher resoution than 1080p.

Also, Mstenger404 is correct.
HDMI cords v. 1.1 & 1.2s support up to 1080p resolution. while v.1.3 & 1.4s support higher resolution (Bluerays, PS3, ...etc.).

Hellfighter 01-16-2011 04:23 PM

think that's screen higher resolution 1920 x 1080
my is set to 1920 x 1080 (1080P)

on the page they may have type it in wrong
link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product

didn't notice that way they type it up
=====
BTW if i gone with VGA connection to the HD-TvSet it would be limited to 1024 x 768
come with connection on the HD-Tv set for it, but it fuzzy a bet do to it over size the image to full screen on the HDTV, HDMi cable fix that much clear image on the screen

That's actually not true. The signal is still corrupted, but there are very effective methods of ignoring any picked up noise.

BTW. If you can, always shoot for the shortest cord you need. The shorter the cord means the less noise you'll pick up.

And no, DVI and HDMI will never carry audio.:thud:

That's a whole lot of noise if it can corrupt a digital signal into being unrecognizable. Display devices ignore it anyway, unless the case of corroded copper or extreme noise occurred.

i learn that by now about the video feed vs audio feed
a bet late on the money now lol

but that only because of the video card only sends out video feed without audio to it, norm of PC tower's

Mstenger404 02-08-2011 04:32 PM

^^ well that's only partially my words

When a video card has a native HDMI port on it like 90% of the ones being sold today they can send audio out HDMI, it just needs some configuration in windows and walah.
