aw man - thats just awesome - Looks like the "Golden Orb Web Spider". They make the largest and strongest webs (their silk is almost as strong as kevlar).

there is actually a spider that specifically eats birds. it is even nicknamed the "Bird-eating spider". "image below"

i was watching Tv about 4wks all go they show Humming birds get eaten by a spider thats waiting in the tree's to catch them as they come by. weird thing to watch

There's a fake email going around that there is a spider from like Inda that lives in toilets and bites people on the butt. I forget what they say in the email but it is all BS.
