[hobby] relic hunting

looking to make a screen box or buy one

basic its a box thats rocks back and forth and the dirt fall through the screen what ever is left on top! nails, belt buckle, old 1700s guns...ect

anyways i don't recall the name of the screen filter box, what they call it?

its basic box shape with a metal type screen cover the bottom of it, a lot of relic-digs use it to filter item out to find items in the ground.

i search Google and could not find it or the real name it goes by.

going to look more

not sure if it's what you are looking for but there is plans for a 'rocker box' on this page http://www.gpex.ca/homemade-gold-prospecting-tools.html

This is hard work, acting as 'mother' to a gaming site is much easier, many friends are involved in recovering us army collectables from Guadacanel and selling on e-bay
thanks to recent popularist tv program, but I'm doing well selling the expolsive from the shells to the local fishermen to catch their fish for the day....I can recomend a metal detector......lol
ps still of the smokes ..I am

Thats a classifier william. http://miningold.com/class.html

get some 2 by 4's to make the box frame 2' squared. and get some metal screen and fasten the screen to the bottom of the box. you could suspend the box over an A frame by some rope to make it easy to shake, or you could put it on top of 2 sawhorses and shake it back and forth.

http://www.twpinc.com/twpinc/control...4X004D0250W48T thats the smallest screen you would want to use for what you are planning.

You can also make a small version by getting a plastic plant pot and cut the base off from about 4 inches from the top. discard or use the base for plants... and staple or fasten with small bolts wire mesh to the bottom of the part you kept. for gold panning this is good to do because you can make several with different mesh from 1/2 inch holes to window screen to reduce the material and remove rocks or other debris. plus they are very portable and easy to use. I do suggest using the top of the plant pot because usualy it has a rim that makes it easier to handle.

A rocker box does the same job as a sluice box or panning. it does not reduce the material. the lighter material like sand will move to the sides of the box and the heavier gold will be more towards the center. its a complete different animal to a classifier.

I gold pan for a hobby...

Better have 2 or 3 extra drills on hand as that contraption will cook them quickly. interesting setup though.
