You know when winter is closing in when...

Add your "you know when winter is closing in when...".

Thought of this when I a few days ago saw these roaming the roads:

That really makes you feel the winter is coming ever so closer, that and the roads are icy in the morning and it getting alot darker.

So what do you see or feel right now that the winter is coming closer?

I guess those down-under will have to do the oposite and tell "you know when summer is closing in when..." ;)

PS, To make it clear, we don't have any snow here in the south of sweden yet but there's alot of ice and the plowtrucks spread salt on the roads from now on till about febuary/march, but they do have their plows mounted which looks a bit rediculous!

Right now for us the leaves are changing. The mountains look pretty. Tourists flock from the north to visit the Smokey Mountains to see the majestic colors of the trees. The Reds, yellows and gold colors.

The nights get cooler. Not too hot, not too cold. Temps are just right.

This is my favorite time of year.

Its fooked here, its meant to be spring, which usually means nice days or brisk days with the odd rain...

20 kms down the road from me, it "snowed"* a couple of days ago, ironically I didn't catch it so I still have not seen snow, but the wife works in produce in that town and is starting to see mangos and the other summer fruits come in and its snowing outside...

* when I saw snowing I mean it in the loosest sence of the word, but snow is snow

Uggg... Last month was great. Didn't have to turn on the AC or the Heat at all.. The power bill from last month was very nice this month. Now we have to turn on the heat again :ohnoes:

I just hope it holds off for one more week so I can get my last drag race in for the year!

When I have to wear a jacket inside the house and take it off to go outside.

I know winter's closing in when I go outside and freeze my arse off.

Fist day with snow! And strong side winds, hail. And all that with summer tires made an interesting ride home :p

Lol, yeah atholon ... wondering that too?

We here in the South Eastern USA get our 1st snow around the first of the year.

atholon 10-25-2012 04:57 PM

Utah. Woke up and there was snow on the ground. Blech.

bigsmellyfart 10-25-2012 09:15 PM

my favorite winter place...Crested Butte,Colorado...
absolutly love it

atholon 10-26-2012 12:57 PM

Some people I know in Idaho said they got 10 inches yesterday. :|

I hope that's not going to be a omen for this winter. I'd be happy with another mild winter. It's not fun walking to school in -7 c weather

atholon 10-26-2012 01:00 PM

Just looked up record lows and it looks like Utah is #2 in the United States for the lowest temperature -56 c.

SilentTrigger 10-26-2012 01:52 PM

I like it when it gets below -10, get's crispy in the air and the snow cracks :)

And I love snow, so I think you're lucky ath! :p

The snow we got never stuck to the ground :(

You should visit a snowy country to see it, it is really nice, especially if all trees are covered in it and its below -20, it's really a wonderland and breathtaking! :gj:

Snow when it should soon be summer does suck though, big time!

Hellfighter 10-26-2012 10:01 PM

yea that big storm hitting the New England states going to drop ton of snow/ rain there
