cant see some pics just boxes with red crosses
 

cant see some pictures on the web i just get red boxes, how do i fix this or what do i download or install etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,

here and other sites, ive tried refresh, some times there is a attatchment picture on this site i cant see it, ive communicated with afriend via phone while were on the same site he can see the pics, but i cant, i have restored my internet defaults still the same,,,..............

So you did this in your IE. Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Restore Default ? Which Operating System do you have?

if you can"t see any pic and useing ie try this:

Go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and look at the multimedia section.

are you using a firewall ?

just the xp pro fire wall.

In Internet Explorer do this:

1. On the View menu, point to Encoding, and then click Western European (Windows).

2. Verify that Show Pictures has not been disabled:
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab, and then verify that the Show Pictures check box is selected under Multimedia.

Click OK.

If that didn't fix it did you recently installed a graphics program that changed the file associations for .jpg, .gif, and other image file types?

yo man I got the exact same problem..I had it a long time ago but did a system reboot and it was all good..Well it just started doing it again like 3 days ago but it only does it on certain sites.I am fine here but my luck most other sites do it to the point where I can't even get further than the homepage seeing as every single thing on the site is red X's :| I tried all the stuff above and it still didn't work...

Sometimes it can be connection issues, even on broadband.
This site was plagued with the problem not so long ago because it was exceeding bandwidth somewhat.

There are 3 things that dose this.
1.) Host of that Picture is down, if the webmaster is updating it making changes site will not be seen till after he's finsh with it.
2.) Geocities and some others have a block on it so other don't leech on the files this stop all from seeing Picture (sig, wallpaper, avatar's. zip. ECT).
3.) The host site is down do to bandwidth is over run so close down for temp. This is normal, dose happen to all limited paid service or freebie sites sample geocities have a limited on it and other do to but most of the time the site come backup after 1-3hrs.

Some times a user of images upload to an host site later it been deleted or owner of the image has remove that image, you get box with X in it, some image host sites limited how much data member can use, go over that limit theirs account is block or they pay up to be unblocked
