Cuts from computers

Anyone that plays with the insides of a computer probably knows what i'm talkin about.. Thoes little thin cuts that you cannot really see that hurt like a B&^$%. I got them all over my fingers and they just freckin hurt.. My fingers were all bloody yesterday after building a few computers and redoing mine. I have no idea where they come from either. Anyone else get them?

Erik 10-20-2006 11:53 AM

I use to till I got a laptop

They must be the base insides, like the parts that hold the CD drive and stuff. They're usually real blunt...

wear very thin rubber gloves. They protect your hands from those little nicks plus they will keep you ground so you cannot short cirtuit anything out.

Hmm maybe I have when I think about it heh

might get a cut once a week, i think from yanking out 4 pin molex connectors.

i get dermatitis at work during the winter... its where your whoel hand dries out and your skin starts bleeding from every possible crack and it hurts like hell!!! like having hundreds of paper cuts!

Mauser 98K 10-20-2006 03:26 PM

hey tin , when ya hands break out like that soak them in isoproporial alchohol. lol.

if ya didnt have to touch any1 or anything that would show, ya can take a tube of chapstick and rub it in ya hands like lotion, takes care of the drieness.

I hate those!

tip's of the soldering on the MOB, if they are pointed sharply they can cut you up a bet and the housing on the PC tower sharp edges. the metal is press cut out then folded over the make the tower then stamp together in some case.

use to happen to me making 11meter ham radio's in the U.S

Basic a 11meter Ham radio is a CB radio with FM/AM/SB over 3000 channels to use (counting the Side bands).
last time i made any was back in 1994 i move away, no more need for it. still have the books on it.

1.) the soldering tips on the MOB or broads PCI/PCIe Cards
2.) tower case the metal is press cut out very sharp edges.
3.) there is a baddly press puntch out that has a sharp metal point stinking out from it, some times you get to close and cuts you very small to see were it is or the cuts it makes on you..

basic i think it the the soldering tips that got you a small wire coming throu it can do it or the Soldering point. case with sharp edge may scrape you up some and make cuts you can see. but the soldering tips can make hairline cuts as will harder to see.

Nope. No cuts here. I outsource my cuts to other people :D

VooDoo- 10-20-2006 08:43 PM

oh yea i know what your talking about ... i get my ass kicked every time i do something inside the computer..

Scott 10-20-2006 09:51 PM

I think it's a mix between my hands being dry, the sharp aluminum cases, Molex connectors, sharp soldering on the motherboard etc.. I hate when a molex gets stuck...

Grenademan 10-20-2006 11:27 PM

havent done that, but i got my little finger stuck in the fan - while it was on! How is that possible, you ask? One of the blades was missing and i was actually reaching for my food on top of the computer but i wasnt looking and went down just a bit too far...It hurt a little bit, but it mostly scared the ****e out of me.

Scott 10-21-2006 02:52 AM

hehe I have a little fan that blows air into the server to the left of my desk.. sometimes my foot will catch it, does not hurt but scares the crap outa me!

Grenademan 10-21-2006 05:43 AM

Exactly! My first impression is that my finger was being ravaged by some giant mutated rodent.

the PCI slot alway's gets me on any computer ive had, never the motherboard
