Weird happenings on my server - possible cheat?
 

In my server tonight, this chat message appeared:

IcIshoot-*CE*-: Lets do guns

(that's my player name)

Nothing unusual about that, except that I did not type it out and say it. Almost immediatly, my auto message over wrote it, though you could still see the above message.

That happend twice, though with a different message...

Second thing was that 1 player placed two clays. Then those 2 disappeared and were placed some were else.

Has this happend to any one else? I'm assuming they are cheats but since I have never seen some thing like this before I wanted your guys opinion.

The guy involved is trying out for my squad, but we don't let cheaters on.


Also while we are on this subject, does novalogic ever have their employies try out cheats on public servers? A while back I had 2 or 3 people claim that they were from nova testing cheats so that they could block them better.

well sounds like someone was name hacking you. name hacking is where they use a hack(duh) to use your name to post messages. often when someone does this the message they type will apear right on top of another message typed by someone else. the only way i know of this is because someone has done it to me then tried to tell me how to do it.


i have no idea on the other subjects.

I've never had this one,but i have had ghost players on my server manning and using stationary guns and it took 4 or 5 attempts to punt them freeky or what

Those ghosts players did u noticed they killed nothing? Its not even a player, its a general BHD TS bug...

As for the Text changing thats wierd :S

As for the clays, sometimes when u drop them (usually inside buildings) they dissappear.

yes u can only plant 2 clays b4 they dissapear - if u plant a 3rd and 4th, ure 1st 2 dissapear

i think he means when u put them down str8 away they vanish :-\....

O and that thing about Nova entering your server with cheats, its BS they dont do that... any testing they do is done on a local connection. IE. LAN.. So i hope you didnt believe them and let them stay.

no bb read it carefully, 2 dissapeared and then 2 were in another place, sounds like he tried plant 4 (either died and got more clays to plant the extra 2 to make the old 2 dissapear) or went to armoury but same thing again

About the clay issue, I don't think he died. Also they where placed outside.
Also, he didn't go to an armory (can't none in this particular map) and from what I remember, he didn't die.

It almost seemed like he had placed them, then decided that he didn't want them there so he picked them up and moved them never, or maybe he has a cheat to give unlimited ammo..


As to nova cheaters, I didn't at the time... but will from now on. Zero tolerence of cheaters.

Just wish there was a better way of banning them for good.

I don't know if this guy is using a name hack or not, but I was just able to duplicate it with out using any hacks or trainers.

Since I don't know if it would be considered a cheat or not I won't post it, but the method can be used even in yahoo.

Well for one i have a ss of a gun u can tsee anyone on it while its firing but this one guy gets all the kills for it and this gun shoots thru walls look.Shows it moving and firing with no one on it.Many saw it i gotta show BOX WYD The photos of this cheater soon.Anyways dam photo didnt show up good anyways i have one more thta did showing him on a rooftop when theres no ladders to the roof.

lol maybe he did it tactically? sumtimes u can jump from roof to roof, from jumping on a normal barrel u can get up etc

I have ur anwser. I saw a guy doing this so me and my freind was messin. U press ctrl and hold that while preesin enter then Screamin: like that its real easy any 1 can do it!

yep, that is how I was able to do it... The question is, should it be considered a cheat?

um well im glad i can help and im no expert on cheats in Nova (since im not 1) so i cant really help u there. But in my opinon No. Becuase it dose not efect the actual game and dose not effect stats. So i would say no. But thats my opinion!

no, it may not effect the game or the stats, but it does give people the ablity to make some one else say stuff that wasn't really said.

Just think, I could join a server with you and make you start cursing the host. The host thinks that it is you personaly doing it so he bans you :eek:

Speaking of which, I wounder how this would effect Anaconda server manager's langauge warnings... have to test it.

Any ways, I didn't like it because the guy used it to try to change the mode we were in (knives only at the time, he wanted guns).

Update: I just tested anaconda's server manager. You will still get the language warning even when you try to make it look like some one else talked.

i dont no lol! Im not sure all i no is that the host should think that somthins rong when it starts gettin typed over! :D

Not if you add a blank line to the end of the message.
With a blank line at the, the next message will over write the blank line, which since you can't see, you won't realize that some thing has just been overwritten.

the Text hack is a old one. it been done in DF: 2 & LW that i know of. but BHD/TS is a new one to hear about it really is a old cheat some hacker may have updated it to work in BHD/TS servers.

best way to tell who did it is Press "T" then hit them arrow key (down) you see other scroll-down text you did not do? but 9-10 you seen another player use them so watch that text field and remember who did what. if some one says hey i did not type that up? then go to the next guy. mostly it was a new guy who came in. they don't have command codes to use only they see what you see on the screen and they can type thing up. best leave the server and come back if they are on your screen seeing what you see thier game will lockup as you exit out.

if you can report this to novalogic.inc as soon as you can let them know of it, reason so no one get banned for something other type up.

It is possible to do this with out a hack... So I don't know if the guy was using one or not, though what your talking about sure is interesting.

Even worse!!!!!!!:eek: My friend one of the ones i played with on LW over the years when i played had someone hack his server,They then took control of it.Found a cheater today in the A TIN OF Server.I GOT PROOF LOL:D
