Lightning Effects

I'd like to do some lightning/electricity type effects in photoshop. Are there any plugins that do that (like the alien skin ones)? If not, brushes I guess :/

Steve 03-08-2005 11:45 AM

u know the trick to do it yourself?
i.e. clouds > change levels > etc?

i'm sure con has some lighting in his brush packs

Dr. Bullet 03-08-2005 03:09 PM

No, I don't know the trick. Please explain :)

GeeFuss 03-08-2005 03:40 PM

Con has cracks brushes, and maybe stars and lighting I think, but the cracks may look like lighting...if you play around wit em a bit ;)

EDGE 03-08-2005 03:41 PM

YOUR WRONG SB! :p

Do this Dr. B

1) Go to Filter> Render> Clouds

2) Filter> Render> Difference Clouds

3) ctrl + i (Inverts the image)

4) ctrl + l (levels manager)

5) Bring the left level all the way to the right or until desired lightning effect. :)

you're all idiots :p

make em urself... get a 2px and a 1px brush, and start drawing

Rider 03-09-2005 12:31 AM

hmm lightning huh, I wouldnt have a clue lol

actually the cloud thing is a great place to start, or u can do what ringer said and make sure u duplicate the layers a few times and blur them a bit and keep them underneath the original layer......hope this helps alil :)

BOne 03-09-2005 09:07 AM

for perfect lightning ..
> stand on tall building with 5 foot or longer metal pole.
> preferably in heavy cloud coverage or before a storm
> wave metal pole frantically
> have a friend watch with a 35MM camera with shudder open
> this procedure works perfectly even without photoshop
for you to see flawless lightning effects

:D

hope this helps

GeeFuss 03-09-2005 08:53 PM
