Virus warnings

Lone Rebel~BIA~ writes:

Hey all be careful, I saw this posted on another site too. They were getting strange emails all with an attachment of the same size. It is believed to be a virus, and I just got one myself. A good way to tell is that it starts with hello and end with best Regards, Admin.

Example:

"Hello,
The attached product is send as a part of our official campaign for the popularity of our product. You have been chosen to try a free fully functional sample of our product. If you are satified then you can send it to your friends. All you have to do is to install the software and register an account with us using the links provided in the software. Then send this software to your friends using your account ID and for each person who registers with us through your account, we will pay you $1.5.Once your account reaches the limit of $50, your payment will be send to your registration address by check or draft.

Best Regards,
Admin"

the e-mail says: Do you wanna hack???

and includes Hacker.scr

I believe it will make you watch it while your whole harddrive gets deleted...

So becarful!!

Desciple 01-02-2003 10:13 AM

What's the typical name on the email. Subject = what?

Lone Rebel~BIA~ 01-02-2003 10:29 AM

Sorry can't remember the subject (already deleted it) but one was like a product trial thing and the other was a screen saver. The best way to tell is that they all have a .scr file attached

Muninn 01-02-2003 11:02 AM

Well... the subject on mine said: Do you wanna Hack???

Just like that that... It may have others also.. be careful.. just don't open anything from anyone who you do not know who it is.. .scr, .exe, .pif, .com, .bat, .cpl, .jpg and gif also..

I've gotten that e-mail 6 times from my 6 different Hotmail accounts. 1 per one hotmail account, so I know that its not just me.

I have also got about 50 emails from "VictoryHawk" in my msn account. I think he is the one who is sending them..

Scott 01-02-2003 02:17 PM

I think hotmail is dead. There is so much spam and so many viruses going through you can't keep up with it all. I got 10 spams the first day I opened my hotmail account. They just randomly pick names and email them cause they know someone has the name. Hotmail has millions of users so almost every name is taken. You know, you do not need to have a hotmail or msn account to use msn messenger. If anyone has me on there list they would know I do not have a msn or hotmail address. All you need to do is register a email address from somewhere els and signup for a passport.

irresponsible people use outlook and don't have up-to-date virus checkers are the problem.

Get a virus checker!
Update it everyday!
No problemo!
