How is Single player in Battlefield games?

One of my friend often speaks of the greatness of Battlefield Vietnam. From what i know, battlefield games are not known for their single player. But is it still worth a try?

hmm I have Battlefield Vietnam cant remember it having a SP story but if you mean sp with bots If I remember it was ok though probably not as good after playing more upto date games, they always seem good at the time then try a game after a few years and you think what the hell did I really play this...lol

Multiplayer was really fun but it is one of DICE least sold BF game so it's probably not that great numbers online.

Can't recollect it having any SP either :(, first with a story was Bad Company I think.

i play BF 1942 (not any of tons of mods for it)
online seem to lag a lot for me, but it was cool having player to use planes to fight with others on the ground with. better then any use halo or blackhawks

haven't try any of the more newer version of BF serials games

if i recall there was a SP-mission story line for BF1942

Interesting to see informative comments about the BF series, especially from a newcomer to the site, it brings a new light and adds a bit more life to the place... TY

For me, BFBC2 remains one of the most controlling and scripted FPS games I've ever played...Yuk!

BF1945 and BF2 were OK because from memory they didn't have redundant cut scenes blasted at you right before, in the middle and after every action or event in the game.

It had no freedom and I'd say it just didn't come up to scratch and meet my expectations, or that of the majority here I'd dare to say.

I play BF2 SP maps a lot. I've also modified a bunch of stuff. Weapon tweaks for ammo capacity (10+1 magazines for KE ammos, 31 grenades for the launcher, et cetera), and little adjustments in recoil, accuracy. I switch out vanilla weapons for unlockables sometimes, but they're not really all that great, and some flat-out suck. Grappling hooks and ziplines for all classes. Tweaked a Little Bird into the Sharqi Penninsula map. Added attack helicopters to Taraba Quarry, and just general dumb stuff like that, just because. Just for fun.

I never play online, so I'm missing out on a lot, I guess, but with notepad.exe and a bit of patience, I at the very least am not missing out on everything.

Why did EA make the unlockable weapons unavailable to single players in BF2, anyway?

Operation Clean Sweep became a different experience when I added radar to all aircraft, I tell ya...

Deactivated the boundaries in pretty much all the maps, too. I like to go where I want and see what I like.

BF2 is good fun.

For me BF1942 is the greatest BF game ever made, BF2 was great as well and then it got more and more like cod which ruined it for me :(

Battlefield vietnam was available for download in www.oceanofgames.com highly compressed in over 900 mb! I may have downloaded that but its doesnt feature any campaign i think. Does anyone knows about the single player gameplay of bf vietnam?

SilentTrigger 09-03-2015 07:58 AM

Ah yes, good to see an old post getting revived. However, everyone has their own interests. I am interested in games with a good sp, multiplayer being optional. I hear battlefield 3 and hardline have good campaigns, but any old game? My pc can't play these unless I upgrade my ram and graphics card, which won't happen for quite a while.

Hell yeah, now I will add it to my buying list. That specifications info was an important piece that I surprisingly never found out myself. Thanks a lot.
