Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 Will it Expire ???

From Jim: October 4, 2001 at 14:10:29 Pacific

I have Build 2600 (professional) installed on my system. whats the chance that the OS will stop working? i.e. expire?

Is there a release that is closer to the final with out having to register it?

I prefer Win 2000, but I want to check XP out long enough to make sure its good enough for my current needs.

Thanks,
Jim

Yes, it will after 120 days. That is more than enough to time to enjoy and check out the OS.

hi,
i am using 2600 as well but i was told it was "cracked" and will not expire...how can you tell if it will expire in 120 days? i'm buying it for my other machine anyway but i'd like to know if it will expire on this machine. i never had to register it and it never said anything about reminding me later...
any ideas?,
Nelly

XP Build 2600 professional is A FINAL build. Professional edition does NOT require product activation...only the Home edition. So the answer to your question is it will NOT expire and to correct one of your statements you made build 2600 is NOT a pre-release but the final build. If you buy a new computer now it will ship with XP....? the release of XP to the general public to install themselves is later.

The Professional Edition STILL requires activation. HOWEVER, Microsoft has a volume license program for Win XP, also known as the Corperate Edition. That does not require activation.

Final Build for XP pro is--
5.1 build 2600-xp client 010817-1148

To check your version--
START-RUN- winver

To check if your copy is already activated--
START-RUN- oobe/msoobe /a

And a whole lot of useful options are found if you go to START- RUN and type in
gpedit.msc
cheers ........Gaz

Before to be activated XP doesn't give to use "Adminestrative tools/computer manegment" or something like whis, but if you'll logon in safemod (F8 while loging) you'll have an access, just delete all stuf in "local users",but dont delete admenistrator accaunt, just rename it,set some password for guest. after that use start/run "regedit" in HKEY_LOCAAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINnt\CUREN TVERSION\ SET "REGDONE" to 1
When find "SFCDisable" in .../CurentVersion/
and set it to 1 too; close regedit and click
start/run. In start/run use two comands:
regsvr32.exe -u regwizc.dll
regsvr32.exe -u licdll.dll

Thats all your XP "Activated" 8)

Re: Electronic Arts Trademark and Copyright Infringement Notice

Hello and thank you for contacting us. We have shut down the website in
question.

Oh wait, just kidding. We haven't, since the site in question is fully
legal. Unlike certain other countries, such as the one you're in, we have
sane copyright laws here. But we also have polar bears roaming the
streets and attacking people :-(.
Please don't sue us right now, our lawyer is passed out in an alley from
too much moonshine, so please atleast wait until he's found and doesn't
have a huge hangover...
You're free to demand anything you want. So are we. We demand that you
cease and desist sending letters like this, since they're frivolous and
meaningless. Where should I send the bill for the consumed diskspace and
bandwidth?
Thank you for your entertainment. As with all other threats, we will
publish this one on http://static.thepiratebay.org/legal/

That's if you can tell one from the other in the clutter and boy do they ever get in the way or what?
Ridiculous!
DFX2? - turn em on or turn em off, no enemy icons and they don't really get in the way at all.

PS. There have been some great maps going up lately, people are getting more advanced in their strategic and technical ability and more creative with the environments.
