black hawk down 1

I recently bought the game & installed it. The problem is, that everytime i play the game & it runs for about 5 seconds then it not only crashes out the game, but my pc also crashes into a restart.
My sys specs are as follows,

ram = 512mgb
graphics = radeon ati 9550
h drive = 300gb
cpu = amd 2400
op sys = windows xp
direct x = 9b

I more than qualify for playing the game, but why am i having problems with it like i am?
I have tried reinstalling the game aswell ,but it still does the same. i do not get an error log to see what is causing the game to crash out & crash out my pc.
I have tried some patches from another website, but all they do is take away the single player icon & nothing else. The game is something i really want to play, but i am frustrated in not getting the chance to play it.
PLEASE can someone help me with this problem.

Might be something to do with thermal shutdown or vidcard

Do you play any other games?

Do you have this problem with any other games?

On boot check your system and CPU temperature through BIOS(most often pres DELETE key on starts up[then go to PCHEALTH]) then when game CPU crashes on reboot check it again thermal shutdown is usually set between 60-80C 140-176F possibly as low as 55C 131F I don't recommend setting it above 75C 167F but you can set it higher to test to see if game still crashes CPU(DON'T turn it off).

If this is the case you may need a bigger heatsink and fan on your CPU or it could be your fan isn't working correctly also check CPU fan RPM in PChealth should be 3000+ rpm.

If as Obriano stated it is a bad download of the game if the game was caught in a loop it may cause overheating also

If it isn't thermal shutdown update vid drivers

besides updating video card drivers, have you tried manually installing the official patch right off of novalogic's website?

I'm with peregrine falcon on this, xp has tripped bigtime, say you play other games of this genre, would assume you have many things running in the background, enough in fact to overload your cpu....lol
update you vid card drivers, get all Nova's patches, consider direct x = 9c
