PCI-E is a new high speed slot (faster then AGP)

If im not misstaking the X16 means its 16 times faster then the older PCI slot :)

Its used for new graphics cards :)

Steve 02-22-2006 12:55 PM

isnt the x16 the top black one?

Scattergun 02-22-2006 05:02 PM

1 - Top middle i think is processor i cant tell due to the Big Text box

2 - Top right is teh RAm Slots

3 - EDIT** Black slot (middle) is for PCI-e the block color messed me up Usualy PCI-E slots are Orange ish

4 - Then Pci Pci Pci Below that

5- and i dont knwo taht the smaller black slots are i think they are the PCI-E 1x Slots

See pic Below

(numbers correspond to the Numbers on pic)

so you saying the VGA Slot is one and same PCI-E 16x slot

ok was thinking there been AGPX 4X 8X so this make it a AGPX 16X?

hate sound like a fool but what are PCI-Express 1x slot use for?

i know that the normal one's use for but the smaller one's 2ea never seen this type before?

Scattergun 02-22-2006 07:31 PM

No It means you got a PCI-Express 16x Slot

- Pci-express is Twice as fast as AGP 8x and Outputs more power to the video card so you dont ahve to plug it to you Power Supply .

- Pci-Express also give you better Gaming Preformance
- PCI-E also gives you a better Price range for Graphic Cards Like you can get a x1600 Pro 256mb for around 100-170 Dollars US

PCI-Express is more ahhh Technilogical Advanced (spelling)

Pci-e 1x Slots can be used for RAm Upgrades like you get a Card with RAm Slots That you can plug into your Computers PCI-e 1x slot

And i think like Most of the companies in 2007 ish will be switching from PCI to PCI-E 1x for their Sound Cards and stuff like that
