Thats weird.. are you sure thats for messenger? I didn't think it had a license?

hmmm... wonder if ms has got it 2 scan for "genuine" copies of windows now?

Scott 08-22-2006 04:27 PM

It's not in the MSN EULA (Yes I do read them ;)).. and if they did something that's not in there EULA like that (Remember wga?) you will hear it all over the news..

yeah Scott, its from messenger, look at the bottom, in the taskbar, u can see the little WLM icon next to where it says "lisence failure"

My humble advice is reinstall. If that doesn't work, uninstall Windows Live Messenger via Add/Remove Programs and remove the folder and everything. Then reinstall. I can't 100% guaruntee you it will work, but it's worth a try. ;)

it looks dodgy to me, "pleases" reintall the software? no space after the comma, i dont think microsoft would do that, even regardless it dosent read like a microsoft error to me...

I agree with Mike 100%. I'm a punctuation geek (that's why I spell 98% of the time correctly) and I can tell what's real and what's not. Microsoft speak really formally and I know that 100%.
E.g:

Real:
Error. Windows Live Messenger licence corrupt, please try reinstalling.

Fake:
Error. Windows Live Messenger licence corrupt, pleases go try reinstalling it again.

Etc... I was gonna point that out but I thought it was one of Microsoft's workers' screwing up or it's a flaw or something. Good thinking Mike! :gj:

Download Windows Live Messenger from the official site or get it from SoftPedia or Download.com which I 100% trust with downloads. ;) :)

1.) use exployer browser for updates and as it you at it log-in with the Live messager.
2.) scan the Start>Run>chkdsk /f >Press Y>enter-key> reboot the system.
3.) last still getting the error> unstill it then reboot system then instill the software after log-in.

windows update site will not work with FoxFire browser only IE6 and newer version.

if you can do a virus bootup scan if you can or in safemod do a virus scan there deep scan. check everything.

could be the router is blocking the setting or firewall is set to sealthmod too high meddle setting is fine.

okay, so i fixed the lisence problem by doing scans for spy/mal ware, virus' etc. but now im bugged by another error.

looks like this

http://trilogy.novahq.net/sigteam/ringer/vpdll.jpg

the thing is, wlm still starts up, i just dont wanna have to deal with this error every time i start up. i can live with it, i would jusr rather things ran smoothly

Chrispy 08-23-2006 11:04 PM

Get a registry cleaner. Registry cleaners clean out errors and stops them from showing up.
Get one that can fix invalid entries (all of them do lol just being bang on).

:)

It works.
