re w10 debockle

well I was trying to fix a problem with my hdd's
so I tried to put w10 into safe mode and unfortunately I did so without networking... and when it booted up it still wanted to log on...so it got stuck and nothing would unstick it...so I had no choice but to re install windows 10... now the graphic driver does not work properly, so now I got tobackup my stuff and stsrt over agn ...:ohnoes::ohnoes::ohnoes:

That sucks! It wouldn't let you just reboot back into normal mode?

no it just tries to go into safe mode but it wants to logon first and the lan is not activated...so it just sticks and the driver for my monitor works in windows 8.1 pro first then in w10 but if you just load upw10 on the hdd
without w8.1 pro first i.e. a fresh install instead of upgrade the the driver does not work properly all the outer edges are out of the viewing area by 1/4 inch
no matter what res you set it at...its stupid ,,,I.E. one of Microsoft latest escapade that earns them top honors at the American S.I.P. award show
that's S . I . P ./...Stupidity in Programming...

Do you have multi-boot?

Try a drive switch (another external box or switch mounted on your existing case) so that only one OS and it's drive(s) are powered up at the same time.
Other drives should be completely off.

Multi boot is tricky because one windows can see the other windows and it's recycle bin, system files and junctions (Soft links made by microsoft to fix path environment variables and maintain backward compatibility), so the other OS software could follow them and make a mess.

sorry this is an enhancement of ntfs privileges by Microsoft...how ever after several years there was a bios update for my mobo and i installed it and it remains to be seen as to what will happen in my proces to restore my puter...

Try shorting the jumper switch for the BIOS to reset or remove the battery for a while, then insert the windows recovery disk and try to re-configure or get to safe mode.

this mobo will not duel boot ( but i have not tried it since i upgaded the Bios ) and as always when you install windows you absolutely must have only the install drive( drive your installing windows too ) connected to the system. ...if you have more tan one of the same OS installed it will not create all the required partitions...if the other os is a lower version than the one your installing the install will terminate with a incompatible message an other Stupidity in Programming Feature of Microsoft...I like saying that with a professional Deep Radio Anouncer Voice...:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:

bigsmellyfart 02-15-2017 07:02 PM

yea windows searches the entire system for system partitions..thats the Stupidity in programming thing...

bigsmellyfart 02-15-2017 07:05 PM

will i had that happen to me, but not with the bois upgrade part, i restart it and unplug it (like power-cutoff) make it think that, got to normal log-in screen then.

but then again it got stuck on loading blank black screen no reason just stuck there i did it, some time i get fix windows option showup right after the bois done loading to, so cheap fast way i did it force the power off (unplug it), 1-2x the it loadup to log-in screen, to desktop run scandisk (run> chkdsk then check for found error, restart so it fix error (chkdsk /f (f fast fix, r deepscan sample chkdsk /f /r can place both in there or not up to the user)

my windows 10 been doing great now for 6mo no trouble

i feel your pain, no then like take the air out of one when Pc go crazy

well I can feel it coming by how it the system is behaving...something non critical stops functioning or does not behave correctly then something else so I backup all my personal stuff I got like 4GB of HD wallpapers 8 GB of accumulated Pix then my docs and email my downloads then my Music
I got like 80 GB of music in iTunes format...then I got to reinstall my games
and other apps then get updates...its a lot of work just cause of Microsoft " Stupidity In Programming " and the Oscar for Stupidity in Programming goes to.............Microsoft.

also just finished installing w8 pro and upgrading to w10pro... personally I think MS logo should be the symbol of a court gesture....

AFAIK you can still multi-boot.

I have 3 OS, Ubuntu XP and 8.1 on SSD and HDD platters on an MSI MB.

If the OS searches for other OS simply Install one OS on One drive at a time - disconnect the other drives, if the OS boot manager won't handle it then use Grub or other boot managers.

If you install Ubuntu on a small partition or another drive it will manage the boot for all of them.

i expect professionalism and industry standard...apparently not everyone complies...if industry standard was complied with..it would have been a great mobo...i will never buy a AsCrock product again...
