Q: Hello! What is your DF name?
A: BBQ-f- (seeing as i cant use BBQ*f in JO)

Q: Which Delta Force game(s) do you make maps for?
A: Just JO.

Q: Why did you start making maps for Delta Force?
A: I started making BHD maps as i had seen some very good customs from other members of the team friction squad and just thought i'd have a go and see if i could do it too.

Q: Did you find it hard at first?
A: Yes,but i had a lot of help from other members in friction, otherwise i probably wouldnt have had a clue.

Q: Have you ever read the mission Editor Manual on the DF CD?
A: Nope.

Q: If No - Did / do you know it is there?
A: Yes, but being a man i never read the manual :)

Q: What version of the MED do you use?
A: Currently on NILE 0.62

Q: What’s good about that particular one?
A: I think one feature of NILE that is very useful is the 3D view mode, i like the autosave, and it's good at placing the objects at the correct hight for the terrain. Oh, and the very user friendly way you can update it.

Q: Where did you get it from (if not the DF CD-ROM)?
A: Downloaded from NOVAHQ i think.

Q: What is the most useful utility for a map maker apart from the actual
MED?
A: I dont use any other utility, except lots of help from fellow map makers, especially within my squad, team friction.

Q: Do you have a favorite item / object from the MED?
A: Concrete Dock centre peice all the way, use them like lego blocks :)

Q: What is the easiest game type to make a map for?
A: Probably TKOTH or TDM i think.

Q: What is the hardest game type to make a map for?
A: AAS (but i have never tried to make a single player/co-op)

Q: What is the longest time it has taken you to make a map / mission?
A: About 20 hours work.

Q: Was it worth it?
A: Yeah

Q: Did you ever make a map before you found out how to zoom in / out in the
MED?
A: No, Cant say i did.

Q: What is the most useful thing in the MED (e.g. group rotate, different
terrain views, absolute height)?
A: 3D view and copy+paste.

Q: What feature is the MED missing that would make map making a lot easier?
A: Too many glitched items, and you cant copy and paste parts of an old map to a new map.

Q: How many maps do you think you have made?
A: 3 finished ones and 2 that i scrapped.

Q: Do you have your own website for your maps?
A: Yes, they are all downloadable from my squads site - www.teamfriction.net, then click maps.

Q: Do you submit your maps to any sites?
A: I submit some to NOVAHQ and dfbarracks.

Q: If Yes - Do they get good reviews?
A: Yeah, they always do very well.

Q: Can you name the best map you have ever played and do you know who made
it?
A: I have played a lot of very good maps but i think the best one would have to be church of destruction by ZZa1pqx.

Q: Can you name any other people who make great maps (apart from yourself)?
A: Yeah, 3 guys in team friction - El Bastardo, thebigshowy and Human-Sheild, plus a guy from the Hussars - ZZa1pqx, and an ex friction mate of mine called Suicide.

Q: How did you learn to make maps (self, website, friend etc)?
A: Well it was really A bit myself with a lot of help from suicide hehe.

Q: Would you like to mention anyone who has helped you out a lot?
A: Yeah, special thanks to Lady-muck*f and the friction squad for testing them with me in the afternoons and giving me ideas.

Q: Do you have a tip that would be helpful to someone who was new to map
making?
A: If you get stuck put up a post at www.teamfriction.net/forums and i'd be happy to help.

Q: Have you ever made a map with the full amount of items?
A: Yeah, it was a giant tower where you had to fight for the floors inside, only problem was it really lagged up peoples machines.

Q: Do you have a terrain that you like the most?
A: FLAT, although it isnt actually flat lol - work that one out?

Q: Ever make your own terrains?
A: no

Q: If not - would you like to? Or do you not know how, but would if you had
info on how to make them?
A:Havent yet found a program to do that for JO but i would if i could!

Q: Is there any items / buildings / vehicles that you would like to see in
the MED?
A: I would like to see some smaller plain blocks in so people can create their own buildings. I would also be satisfied just to see the ones that are already in the Med to be fixed properly withno glitches.

Q: Do you add a signature / your name to the maps you make?
A: I like to put the word 'FRICTION' on the map somewhere so keep an eye out for it.

Q: If Yes - What is it made from, what does it say and where do you usually
put it?
A: It is made from wooden planks and can be put on the terrain. Occassionally i put it in the sky, but then i make it out of crates so it is easy to see.

Q: Has anyone ever stole one of your maps and claimed that they have made
it?
A: Havent found any yet but we'll see...

Q: If someone steals a map, should the original maker be angry, flattered,
or both?
A: I think i would be annoyed because someone is taking the credit for a map which has taken someone else a lot of time and effort. I would be flattered by people playing my maps not stealing them.

Q: Do you like Nova's multiplayer maps?
A: Some, but they do get very repetitive.

Q: Do you think your maps are better?
A: Yes

Q: Do you like Nova's single player missions?
A: Never played them.

Q: Do you think your missions are better?
A: I Dont create missions.

Q: Have you ever used a BMS to MIS converter to see how another map was
made?
A: No

Q: Do you get ideas / inspiration from other maps?
A: Yeah sometimes. I like to see how other people use buildings and try to think of good ways to incorporate them into my maps.

Q: Which is better: night maps or day maps?
A: Day

Q: Any comments you would like to add?
A: www.teamfriction.com and click forums then on Map making forum to get in touch if you need help or want to share ideas etc.

Q: Any comments you would like Novalogic to take note of?
A: Just the points about the errors in NILE that i have highlighted in this interview. Somesitimes it seems novalogic release these programs without testing them first.

Thanks for your time and best of luck with the mapping in the future
