New Job

Well, it's actually an internship.

I'm two weeks in now. I work as a data modeler intern for a pretty big transportation company. It's been a nice introduction to the corporate world, and I've pretty much had to revamp my wardrobe to fit the business casual mold.

So far, they've kept me close to my comfort zone and asked me to work on a few in-house applications to make the data modelers' jobs easier. Ultimately, though, my responsibilities will include updating the data models and ensuring they are in sync with the physical databases. I wouldn't say I'm totally interested in the world of data modeling, but it's an IT job (lucky to get one these days), the pay is much better than retail, and my coworkers are all great.

Just wanted to share what's going well in my life. Anyone have experience in this field? I was never even aware it was a field at all. A data modeling team sounds like an odd middle man between developers and DBAs to me, but I suppose it makes sense for a corporate company given the amount of projects they handle.
