hmm i dunno how you can compare it to quicktime :/

do a quick search on the forum for xfire, Chief has posted a lot about it.

personally i dont need it, it serves no purpose. i know a lot of people that have had system problems after installing it, and game crashes.

I'd have to go with Steve...it doesn't make me play any better or do anything to enhance my experience (at least viruses pop up porn )...

Cool

I agree I don't see that X-fire enhances your gaming experience.

it really sweet i can instant join games with my Buddy's on the INTERNET massager without starting some games up.

you may have to have the CD for some games in the tray still to instant join more has to do with the game setup to instant join in some games.

i talk to my brother who maybe playing Halo and i be in DF:BHD inside the game a windows pop-up in it we talk to each other without leaving the game at all or going to desktop.

basic they have:
1.) text massager for some games only.
2.) instant join others and text messages too.

all the info: on game they support:
Link: http://www.xfire.com/xf/modules.php?...ire&file=games

on their site they have a listing of games they support with their massager service it free no ad-ware or spy-ware at all.

only file transfer is the demo/patches of games types you may find you like or need.

it more in the line of ICQ or MSN message it don't have anything to it come close quick-time, it like saying Xfire is a apple and quick-time is a chicken egg they are not even close to be compare to each other.

Xfire only let you join in the fun with others and see what they are up to in game play. Darn essayer to locate a buddy and get into the fun of thing. you see server info they are in the ping they are doing many other info. in some case you can instant join right into the server were they are at (you do need the game and any mod they are using)

bottom line it a massager that is more in-line with gamers who play a lot with each other and have fun too.

i love it

they updated it no crashes Steve it was fix and some have to log-in first then go into a server to get their game folder setup after they can use Xfire to go right into the fun of thing.

i had Crashes but i found out with Rainbow Six3 i had to log-in with the game and get into a server (one time) after i use Xfire to instant join with out any crash to the system.

they had trouble all so with PunkBuster getting players banned that all so been fix and members were taken off the
ban listing. the ingame chat option they chain the way it works now so the no more ban on this. the in-game chat box was goofing up the game setting and PunkBuster did not know what was going on now they know and Xfire fix it.

Xfire is a new type of internet messager service online it is sweet like all new things it has some bug in it they been work out, it not even 6mo old still that new

only a foot note:
i trying to get nova on the bandwagon with xfire to get thier game to instant join with others on this new messager service for then the game becomes a hot item. no more looking for buddy's or family to see what game they are playing to join into the fun of things they are looking into it.

Stevie, my virgin eyes, you said cr@p

That is kinda cool that you can locate other friends and chat within the game. What's it like with system resources?

well xfire isn't meant to enhance play, really just if u have friends, most people who don't like it don't, u can see what game there playing, and chat with them in game, as well as join the server they are in at the click of a button

o ya jk about the no friends part

system resources stats on it:

Image name: Xfire.exe
CPU: Low 0 to 3
Mem usage: 9.272
Peak Mem Usage: 9.812
VM Size: 5.592
==========================================
it low on using resouce big time and it always getting updated new games added and fixes too. its not bad as Quick time i to hate it all so, i don't even go there using it at all, it too buggy for me to use.

you should see others listed in Xfire IM, talk about crazy about it. i seen one guy who has at lest 30 games he plays and not to say the number of players on his messager is way high. there are some who are really crazy about it. i find it easyer to join into the fun of things without looking for them at all. some case i get into the same server they are in 3sec i in there with him/her with out looking them up or asking what server they are in.

here a big fan:
http://www.xfire.com/xf/modules.php?...e=devilofdeath

anyway there are some who really play into others games and love it totally.

X Fire is unintrusive. It does not associate itself with any files nor does it infiltrate your registry. It is safe to install and uninstall quickly and cleanly and it does not load your system with spyware.
I have heard of people that have had problems with Xfire itself not running properly but not (until now) heard of anyone having problems running theor PC with anything else just because they have X fire installed.

I like it and I use it every so often. It is a much better way of organising server favourites than All Seeing Eye and its principle feature of note is that if someone wants to chat to you (like MSN) you dont have to alt-tab or shut down your game in order to talk back. Simply tap Scroll Lock and X and you can chat to them whilst staying in the game.

I think it is a superb piece of software. Valuable if you play lots of different games with lots of different people. You can see at a galnce who is online and what they are playing and where and, if appropriate, join them in the game they are in OR the teamspeak server they are using at a touch of a button.

I recommend giving it a go. It IS safe (not intrusive BS like Quicktime), so you can load it even onto a shared computer without upsetting other users. If you dont like it, you uninstall it and the program goes away as quickly and cleanly as when you put it on.

thanks you made a very good point there it is really good to have.

i use Ventrilo/rogerwilco but not much any more.

best part i like it i can play with my brother together without trying to find out what game he is playing or have to call him up on the telephone (he move to another state). i really like to play online with him a lot. he 35 and i am 45 but we love to fight in game together and have a blast
