The Windows.old directory is so you can revert back to the previous version (build 1607). You can get rid of it and free up about 20+ gigs of space using the disk cleanup tool in Windows. Start > Search Disk Cleanup, right click and run as Admin. Select previous windows installations and it'll remove that directory from your computer.

What app did you have to buy a new license for?
MS didn't give me a chance to revert - 2 days later it deleted all of it, the Windows.old and the Installer directory that was on the System Drive Root.

Today after another unannounced and huge update (Major- again!) I find another windows.old and no Installer Dir... Grrr
