I know just how you feel, only the other day I tried to install Windows 10 as an upgrade on new computer hardware but had to install as a new Windows 10 installation because there were too many conflicts with the previous Windows 8.1 network and file security protocols & settings.

Even my storage drives were affected.

Have you tried the network trouble shooter?

Probably so...

You might need to put some more info here so we can try to debug the issue for you.

You can get a program to diagnose the system called SiSoft Sandra - it is/was a go to app for pinning down things like this.
