BHD Nova login Problem

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem or not.

Nova was doing updates starting June 30th. After they started doing the updates I've been getting this message when I try to login to Novaworld after I enter my user and pass:

On a gray screen the message:
missing FAILURE param
(code 1003)
appears and I can't log in. This is only in BHD. I can still log into TFD and LW.

We've sent a tech support request and got the reply that they're aware and working on it. We've reinstalled the game and that does no good either. I'm behind a firewall. It's not the account because my husband can login on his pc.

Any suggestions?

I never had a problem with BHD until the recent server upgrade by NovaLogic. When I try to login to NovaWorld I got the same error as you. I contacted NL and here is the reply I got back:
This error is caused when something on your connection to the Internet is caching older pages of our game servers.

If you are using Norton Internet Security or Personal Firewall software you may need to disable it prior to starting the game.

IMHO the problem isnt with Norton but whatever NovaLogic did to the server coding during the recent upgrade.

Only way to be able to login to NovaWorld is to shut off firewall and run barearse nekked............something I am not about to do.

We tried turning off the firewall (we use WinProxy) and that didn't do any good either.

At this point I'm ready to tell them to buy back the game. Support is telling us all the same things over and over again after we tell them it's not working.

I'm not about to run my computers without firewalls ... esp since my kids have one networked in their room also.

Oh well .. there's always UT2003 to play. (Or public servers if you don't care about stats -- which it what I like to play for LOL)

Hmmm well for a laff I turned off Norton Personal Firewall and when it is off I was able to hit NovaWorld and login sucessfully. Mind you I slammed a email back to NovaLogic and told them that the problem was with recent server tweaks and that I was not about to run my system without a firewall.

BadBiatch 07-12-2003 08:54 AM

We got another email back telling us to unistall our firewall software.

That's impossible cause the firewall software is in the WinProxy and without that I can't connect to the net at all.

They need to go back and fix the problem. They'll get tired of the emails and do something I hope.

you got it firewall setting scan internet software look up dfbhd.exe after change the setting to custom port setting input and out put to port# 17479 after that you should be able to log in and play like crazy

NOPE..........Norton is set to allow communications on ALL ports.
I did a modification of the firewall for BHD and told it to allow usage on ip/op port 17479..........I still get the above mentioned error. I had NO problems until the recent changes made by NovaLogic.

(not all are listed into the firewall you have to add it in.)

TCP and UDF Port 17479
i am using Norton firewall 2003
you may have to edite it to a Individually specified port
to do this
1.) open Norton firewall
2.) highlight Personal Firewall
3.) see to right Configure click-on it.
4.) see tap up top Program Control click-on it.
5.) lookup the listing for dfbhd.exe highlight it now click-on Modify
6.) a small window should open scroll down to Manually configure internet access click-on ok.
7.) see up top Program Control click-on it.
8.) highlight DFBHD down bottom see Modify click-on it.
9.) Tap up top reads Communications click-on it now
click-on TCP And UDP put a dot into the empty space.
10.) now see Add click-on it.
11.) see Individually specified port click-on it and put a dot into the empty space a new window should popup now this is were you put the port setting into it type in 17479 then click ok your finsh. and click-on all ok after that point to get out.

Norton firewall dose have a general listing of ports to use but not all are listed in so you have to add in a new port setting for it. having it set to use any ports will not do sorry 9 out of 10 bet that port not even listed to be use so you have to edite it in for it to be use guy.

i have listing of enable ports as follows:
port 80,81,82,83,443,1080,8080,8088,11523,
(If you have it to use all port then these are the port that it can use only enable ones')

any other ports are close off to all if its not in the enable listing then its close so you have to manually add it in.

Perhaps you missed it........I DID add port 17479 for allowed usage in Norton Personal Firewall 2003 and I continue to get the same error code 1003 as before.

Hellfighter 07-13-2003 04:57 PM

guy i post it up for you to double check it thats all don't get made at me not my doing what they did NL its there for you to double check it thats all

Quantrel 07-13-2003 05:04 PM

Dude I was not mad at you just letting you know that I did what you guys suggested............the problem is exactly as you say: NOVALOGIC who in their absolute stupidity say to shut off firewall.

BadBiatch 07-13-2003 05:41 PM

We added the port and also put our server to a NAT transparency.

I finally got back in.

YEE HAW

Well I have become so sickened with the above problem I tried without running a firewall at all..I have no protection installed on my computer at all other than the Service pack 2 protection which is also disabled..still no luck. It was freezing up every time It started to calculate ping times but I fixed that by cleaning the cache folder in the directory. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times and even went to clean the registry after an uninstall but found nothing lingering.. It seems I can do nothing! any suggestions?
