F7 Editor??

I've searched on several DF forums and FAQ's with no luck . Does anyone know how to edit the voices that come up when F7 is pushed? I want to add some other voices in there. So mainly, I guess, I just want to know how to add .wav files to the .pff and list them under the F7 with the other voices.

Thanks for any info anyone can give.

it is not realisticly possible, the best you could do at the moment is REPLACE some of them but you would have to distribute one of the biggest files in the game bacause it handles most of the ingame sounds.

I was thinking of that possibility last night after I posted that question. Is it possible to add my sounds, and assign them to unused keys?
I've heard other people's added sounds in some games, that have had a laughing sound and other voices added to their's, but they wouldn't say how they did it. I'm not going to mess up my pff file just to add these, but it would be nice to put them in somehow lol.

Thanks for the response Blackbelt. I guess I'll think on this more before trying to get them into my files.

you can quite easily set up sounds that are set off by an event in the med, these are the same as the commuication between various characters you hear in the missions, you can create your own set but you have to distribute it with the map.
this will do it http://dfhq.net/php/utilities/?action=file&id=153

If you heard the laugh that means you already have that sound somewhere in your pff file, whether you donwloaded this ad part of an addon pack like terranova or it's a default im not sure....

Remapping keys to sounds would mean diving into the exe i think..

Thanks Blackbelt.

I have the Dialog Editor, but haven't tried to use it yet.I don't even think I installed it yet. Guess I'll crank it up and see what it does. lol
