Is Nova down for good?
 

I noticed you can NOT log into any of the multiplayer modes of DFX2, DFX, JO, or BHD. Is Nova down for good? I noticed also that the Novaworld community website redirects you to the THQNordic website now.

Someone from the !Julie's Party! server has said that he has contacted THQ Nordic regarding the situation and is currently awaiting a reply from them.

Hopefully THQ Nordic will bother to respond.... :spoke:

Maybe, but I doubt the ability to login and the lobbies will stay down. There may be a transitional period for THQ Nordic to officially take over the lobby.

Assuming people have already brought THQ Nordics attention to the problem.

More and more servers are using it now which will allow players to play BHD even if Nova goes away completely. Servers use the HeartbeatDLL and players use this to join games via any lobby (official novaworld, novahq or novaworld.cc_

I downloaded that Heartbeat DLL but I don't see a folder for DFX.

Only for DF1, DF2, BHD, BHDTS, DFLW, DFTFD

Also the files in all those folders: netsock, netcomm, apiclient, etc etc I can't find those same files in my Delta Force Xtreme factory folder or in my Delta Force Xtreme SO folder.

I know the read me says just to copy them and paste into the Delta Force Xtreme folder and replace existing files by the same name but there are no existing files to replace.

Also after I am able to install them, do you just start the game as normal and go to Multiplayer?

Now it's back up again....

Not only it's down again but back around 3 pm, I was also able to go to Novaworld2.com and see new posts in the forum from today.

Now attempting to go to Novaworld2.com gets redirected to THQ website.

I was online in Novaworld from about 4 pm to 5 pm playing in Graff's and Old Blue's games.

I still haven't figure out how to get the Heartbeat DLL to work for DFX since I've said, there are no identical files in the DFX SO mod folder to replace.

I don't have one for DFX/DFX2 or Joint Ops as they use a totally different system :(

Guess if NovaWorld servers ever go down for good, our days of playing DFX online are over.

It's a shame too.

I've been playing DFX since the first one came out in 1998.

I remember downloading a demo for it, it was just the first mission.

I liked it so much I replayed it several times and I ran to Best Buy to buy the full game with only about 6 minutes left before they closed for the night.

It's been part of my life for nearly 20 years:

Made many new friends and also sadly, seen a couple of them passed away over the years.

I still play every Friday and Saturday night between 10 pm US Central time and midnight in Hawks Made Map, hardly ever miss a night.

It will be strange without it.

It would be sad if it went down. Plenty of people still play Joint Ops as well which uses the same sort of system. I don't know for sure but I'd imagine "Novaworld" is one of the longest lasting "official" game services... Unfortunately while NovaLogic's system isn't unbreakable, it would take a considerable amount of time to mimic it since it's all unique to those games and the amount of information out there on it is pretty much nil.

Last night about 11 pm it was up again and I played in Old Blue's map with 3 other players until about 1:30 am when I finally made myself quit to go get some sleep.

Everything seems to be working for me apart from having to login to all the lobbies again, though I noticed in the BHD lobby that my real name is showing above my player name (stompem), has it always been like that?

Novalogic, inc and novaworld are both in California, they be hard press do anything in that state now! tax rate jump like 400% on fuel and taxes are crazy in that state. hopefully they get smart move out of that state soon.. basic their hands are tie

I got done with work and family stuff early last night, got the kids to sleep earlier than usual, was about 8 pm and had free time so I decided to relax by playing some DFX online and nope, the server was down.

It's up right now but I can't play right now: working.

I am getting that big long error message screen about how I can't connect blah blah blah.

Didn't THQ took over Novalogic and all their games?
