not trying to sound like a total idoit, but when i went to http://www.phpbb.com/ and downloaded phpBB v1.4.4 i was very confused. what are you supposed to do with the file you downoladed? put it on your webpage? please help!

i'm not sure, i'll have to look into that. BTW, the host i am going to use, at least at first, is http://www.tripod.com

only a handful of free hosts actually support php so i doubt they do.

panther knows a lot more than i do about using php, i'm sure he'll reply when hes not busy.

I think that you had to upload all your files onto your server and then you have the go to one of the files and fill evertything in

I think that what you need to do is in the install.php or something like that file
