New App - AssetMan

AssetMan - Asset Manager (Developer Version)

http://gardenshedproductionsinc.com/...een02_nhq2.png

AssetMan was made from need.

Editing in my spare time, I was always getting lost even if I stopped for just a few days.
Then after some years I'd accumulated a lot of stuff (assets) and it always needed strict organizing - not always easy :thud:
That'll never be overcome completely but this was made to help ease the pain.

Due to changes in Greenlight I've had to publish a little early.
So the program could use some votes on Steam to help it stay up there.:gj:

Thanks Hellfighter - Out of over 3,000 entries it's currently at #94.

I'm continually working on refining it before the last call.

I"ve noticed entries get buried pretty quickly so here's a few more pic's to keep the interest up...

Thanks Scott, I really appreciate any support I get, especially from members here.

The App can be fine tuned for any editor - at the moment it's generic - which makes it extremely complex, though it probably doesn't look complicated at all.

I've also made a pack of assets for it - all my own work so it's not pro yet but that may come about after publication with upgrades to the App.

BTW
I'll be making a similar app for all the DF games soon - regardless of any success or not on Steam.

It was actually working on editing DF games and making the BHD app that spawned the idea for this, so if it's a success I owe a lot to NovaHQ.

Looks like it's back to the drawing-board.

New Windows 10 OS security permissions means restructuring and reprogramming, not to mention that the bright Steam Green Light has faded into a dull red sunset.

Windows 10 is blocking almost all of my .net exe apps as well. They want everyone to move to their new UWP apps...

I share your concerns Scott, it's full of bugs and a developers nightmare.

I have Windows 8 as well.

The others day MS sent down a Windows 8 intel cpu driver update and now all of a sudden my CPU is too advanced for Windows 8.1 now.

It a gen 7 board made for windows 8.1!!! What's going on! How can they do it?

Like ransom-ware it pops up every 5 minutes and causes all sorts of errors which can be mitigated by upgrading to Windows 10... pfffaff!

BTW
A lot of NL intellectual property could quite possibly end up worthless because of this...

Had to uninstall Steam, you'll soon find out why...

First thing that may affect you is a gldriverquery.exe error

To fix it go to

Steam\bin\ and find gldriverquery.exe, right click go to compatibility - settings for all users - and tick the box - run this program as an administrator

Try the same for the 64bit version if it fails

I don't seem to have any issues with steam though, everything seems to be working fine for me. Seems like a lot of the issues revolving graphics and what not could be resolved by doing a clean install of your graphics drivers using: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/...-download.html

Which will completly remove your graphics drivers for a fresh install. Then disable Windows from automatically downloading driver updates: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/d...-on-windows-10

I can't really take that advise at the moment Scott, let me explain why.

Automatic Driver download apps have always eventually caused problems for me - especially when I have a driver fix in place and the driver keeps installing (no matter if it's from MS or the latest proprietary WHQL)

Can you see how you can end up in a fatal loop?

Currently (for how long I don't know) I can thoroughly remove any drivers with a tool that monitors and traces all the actions of installers, background processes and virtual applications running on local machines and remote hosts.

I can also preserve, alter or remove corrupted registry entries after failed windows updates using a very powerful registry tool.

So I'm way ahead on that one.

I know what you mean and agree that most device drivers end up doubled or worse so...

If I'm not able to install drivers during the system startup (with minimal services running etc) - I'll usually let both sets (drivers) go in at first without fighting it.

Then I uninstall the software, remove the remaining windows divers from the Device Manager - then before reboot - install the software over the top again.

Then with a bit of luck when windows starts again, it sees the drivers are already there and leaves it at that.

Also when installing an OS I'll compile and install the latest drivers for the MOBO, Network, Audio and Graphics during setup.

I said to remove the driver using the DDU app, and then prevent windows from automatically downloading drivers which is what causes a lot of the problems, at least from what I've found. That way you don't get stuck in a driver loop.

I personally like the auto driver download feature, HOWEVER, NOT for graphics card drivers. Every time Windows tries to automatically update my graphics drivers (AMD), something goes wrong, so I just disable driver downloads completely.
