@ jems, what happens if you create another account after patching and then log in? I've never heard of that problem before. Try log in on worldofwarcraft.com on the account that doesn't work and see if that works.

@ Steve, WoW is such an awesome game. It's always changing and being updated so much though that you dare not want to compare it with the very original game (which is definitely no bad thing). And the expansion Cataclysm is coming out this year which is revamping all the old content too... Absolutely amazing and crazy... lol. :D

seem it as ad-generater to it now day "win32: malware-gen" to the installer.exe in it

my avast! anti-virus/ anti-adware found it
file name: world-of-warcraft-setup-enUS.exe
dated: 11/ 20/ 2014

In heuristic scanning that's what's called (IMO it is) a "False Positive" and that's what Avast! uses when scanning for unknown objects.

It's probably shown up as positive for infection because that particular version of the installer "world-of-warcraft-setup-enUS.exe" is old and not currently on the Avast! database as a safe program.

From what I know of it hundreds of thousands of people used it without any malicious activity becoming apparent.
